Scot's ROCK DJ Service

Scot's ROCK DJ Service A music service that specializes in ROCK music from the late 60's to the early 90's! This is not your typical DJ service. I have a great sounding p.a. Scot

I don't play country, rap / hip hop or any kind of club "dance" music. I also don't have a lot of 90's "alternative" rock music. What I do have is probably one of the largest collections of Rock, Hard Rock and Metal music from the 70's to about 1993. The majority of which is ripped at 320kbps for the best quality you can get with MP3's. This is not going to be a full time weekend gig for me becaus

e I go out to see live bands most Friday and Saturday nights. I also don't really want to do anything on Friday nights unless it is a later start time and I am only bringing my small p.a. However for the right event I can change my schedule to make it work. So basically I am looking to do events on Saturday late after noon to late into Saturday night. I am available for private house or back yard parties, high school reunions for classes that would want 70's or 80's (up to 93) music, local bars that want only ROCK music, so that eliminates most of them! And wedding dances if I know the bride or groom or someone in the wedding party AND if they want mostly ROCK music played. I am willing to play any music that they provide but if more than 25% of the music to be played that night is not rock music, I am not interested. Also there will be a $10 extra charge to play Brown Eyed Girl and $20 extra charge to play the Chicken Dance song. that I got a for a good price so I don't have thousands of dollars in equipment like most DJ services have therefore I don't have to charge as much. I don't have much for lights at this time but I would be charging about 1/3 of what they do. For a small private back yard, deck, house or garage party that I don't need to bring my entire p.a. I will charge $100 for up to 4 hours of music. $10 for each additional hour that I want to do it. This would include just the one set of 12" or 15" 2-way speakers (depending on the size of the area, how many will be there and how loud I can turn it up), the power amp, mixer, laptop, hard drive, CD player (if needed) and some lights. I know most people don't typically pay to have music played at their party but if you have 20 people there and everyone throws in $5 you have it covered. Or the host can pay $50 and everyone else can throw in a few bucks. If there are going to be at least 5 of my friends at the party I will give you a discount. The more of my friends there, the bigger the discount. If I don't know the host personally, I will need cash payment before I set up. If I know you and you are collecting some money from people coming to the party you can pay me 1/2 up front and half later. For larger private outdoor parties or parties in a large room where I need to bring both sets of speakers and sub / amp / crossover, I will charge $130. These prices are good at least until the end of the 2017 and are only for Fargo/Moorhead area. If it is out of that area I will have to charge a little more for gas and travel time. I haven't decided on rates for bars or any other even that sells booze and makes money from people coming in. Contact me for that and we can discuss it. I will come up with rates by the beginning of next year when I will officially call this a business. NOTE: The phone number on this page is NOT my phone number. I had to list one to put the page up but I would rather have you contact me with a message on here and if we need to talk I will give you my number. So far I have done these events: My high school class reunion (2 nights), a 1986 themed night where only music up to 86 was played - at Speck's Bar. An 80's night where only music from the 80's was played - at the Garage Bar, a 70's night where only music up to the end of 79 was played - at Speck's Bar, one night playing random music at Rick's Bar and about 5 nights of playing random music at Speck's Bar. A wedding dance for a friend and a few parties for friends. I have had nothing but compliments at all of them. Most DJ services have a wide range of music they can play but probably don't have or know the deeper cuts that were not big radio hits. Not many people I know, know more about rock and especially heavy metal music than I do. I have been referred to as the Eddie Trunk of Fargo and I will take that as a compliment. Even though I think I know more than he does on most genres of metal. If you want to have a party with nothing but thrash metal, classic heavy metal, power metal or even doom metal I can do that! If you want just 70's rock or just 80's rock or a combination of all of it I have you covered. I do have plenty of newer radio rock too but not enough to do just a night of say music from the last 10 years if you want music people know. And I do have plenty of the lighter rock music from the 70's and 80's with a LOT of ballads too so it is not just HEAVY Rock music in my collection. I usually know my band schedule a month in advance but not all the time so I will not always be able to commit to a private party until a few weeks before hand. For a larger event that needs more planning I can commit 4 weeks in advance. Weddings, not sure on that. If it is for a friend of mine that I would be going to the reception anyway I can commit at anytime. For anyone else, if the price is right I will commit to 3 months in advance. That usually isn't early enough for most weddings though. If you have any questions feel free to message me or call me if you know my number. Thanks for looking at my page!

Going to be playing some music tonight at Chad Hofer's birthday party at Rick's Bar. If you know Chad or are a fan of 80's-early 90's hard rock & heavy metal, stop out! Just using my small p.a. but I still have more than enough power for that band area of the bar. Should be going by 8:00.

My set up at Rick's last night. Pretty much the same as the one in the cover photo from last year.

Saturday night (10th) I am DJing my friend David's 50th Birthday party at Rick's Bar. If you know David Ammala and are in town Saturday night or just want to hear some great hard rock and Heavy Metal from the 80's to early 90's, stop out for a while!

Tomorrow night I will be providing sound for a friend's 50th birthday party at the WF VFW. He is doing a very unique thing for the music. He made a playlist on Spotify of 123 songs by 123 different artists and I believe there is at least one song from all 50 years of his life. So all I have to do is start the music and adjust volume & bass/treble. That is a lot more work on his part than most people would put into a birthday party! But just throwing this out there because I know I will be having quite a few friends in the upcoming years that will be turning 50. I DJ'd another friend's birthday about a month ago at Speck's.

I have pretty much everything in the ROCK genre from the late 60's to the early 90's and can play anything else that is on Spotify so I can customize a playlist for your birthday. I have another friend turning 50 next year that has already asked me to DJ his birthday party at Rick's.

Most places will charge you to rent a room but if you happen to have a birthday in the summer months there is usually nothing going on at Rick's on Saturday nights so you wouldn't have to rent a place. And they haven't been having bands every week the rest of the year either so if you check with Spike and the date is open you could probably do it there as long as it isn't a night of death metal or any other extremely heavy music! They would welcome a group of people coming into the bar. Speck's Bar also would be a good place for a smaller group but if you are one of the regulars you can always schedule that in advance too if there is no band booked.
If anyone is interested, let me know.

If you are in Fargo tonight and like music that was played on Headbangers Ball between 1987 and 1992, stop out to Speck's Bar! Doing sound for Metal Man Dan' 50th Birthday Bash!

Today I hooked up my powered 15" sub and 15" speakers along with my mixer and laptop to my new Jackery 1000 watt power station and all of it was only drawing about 70-75 watts of power at a fairly loud volume level so the power station should easily power that small system for 4 or 5 hours if I should ever need to provide sound somewhere that there is no power. If it is during the day where there is sun light I can connect my solar panel and that would provide about 1/2 the power needed too.

07/04/2020

Tried out the new 18" sub and amp last night at Rick's Bar and it worked well. Way more power than I needed so I think that should complete my system for a while! Thanks to anyone that came out!

Got another addition to all this DJ equipment that I never use! These little guys sound great and have more power and bass output than the Fluance bluetooth box that I have used at some outdoor parties the last few years. Just something I can use when even the small p.a. is more than needed. I can also connect a sub to these if I want to. Perfect for a living room in an apt. or house if someone doesn't have a stereo, which seems to be the case more often than not these days! Or outside on the deck or around a fire. Would just need something to set them on.

I am going to be playing music at Rick's Bar on Saturday night! Been almost 2 years since I have done that there. It is also my Birthday on Sunday so if you are in town Saturday night, stop out and hang out for a while!

05/13/2019

I bought this a few weeks ago. Works great and just enough power to run my small p.a. So now I can take my music anywhere there is no power available.

08/04/2018

Finally getting to try out this new small p.a. at some friend's back yard party today. Will report tomorrow how well it worked.

06/30/2018

I just ordered a 15" powered sub that also will run some satellite speakers. What this means is I can just take that powered sub and use my 12" speakers as satellite speakers for a small indoor or outdoor gathering and don't have to take my full case of amps with me. That would be more than enough for a backyard party where you have to worry about bothering neighbors and I have less stuff to move around. Now I can also charge a little less to do one of these events. Let me know if you are in need of my service! I will have it by Friday.
