On September 25, it will be two years since we lost our son Emmet. (These are words that still astound me even as I’m writing them). On October 23, he would’ve celebrated his birthday and Bar Mitzvah. Traditionally, kids at our synagogue do a special “mitzvah project” as part of becoming a Bar Mitzvah. Jeff and I decided to do a mitzvah project on Emmet’s behalf, because we promised him, as he left us, that we would always do good things in his name.

Emmet loved to read, and we would often “catch” him reading when he was supposed to be sleeping, so we chose to do a BOOK DRIVE to get books into Stamford Public Schools, specifically focusing on grades 3-5. You can read more about our project here, and we made it really easy to buy the books from a pre-made list I created on Amazon.

Our extremely lofty goal is to collect 1300 books, 100 for each of the Stamford elementary schools and also representing Emmet’s 13th birthday. We will run this drive from now until his birthday on October 23.

Buy one book or 10--they are all going to places that need them desperately. Thank you, as always, for supporting us in keeping Emmet's memory alive.
