Lagny Medieval Fair is a recreation of a medieval town similar to those found during the late medieval period of continental Europe. Historically these towns hosted fairs that were seasonal and most population centers had at least two per year. Tolls were paid to the local landowner on whose property the fair took place. This could be the town council, the church, or the lord of the manor. Buying
and selling took place in the morning, while the afternoon was free to enjoy watching traveling entertainment or participating in contests. The higher ranks of society attended fayres for entertainment or business, the middle class for household shopping, farmers and traders for buying and selling, and the poor for a holiday. When you travel to Langy Medieval Fair circa 1200AD, you will find the villagers celebrating their regular fall market fair. Belly Dancer
When you enter the Town, you’ll see merchant booths, unique Olde World games, rides, exotic foods, and unique performing arts areas. Skilled artisans and merchants will sell and demonstrate their wares. They will speak “in character” about their trade and local gossip which will help to immerse you into medieval history, and will dress in authentic looking clothing. Long forgotten skills such as falconry, archery, and puppetry are brought back to life in the town. Minstrels, dancers, jugglers, and strolling villagers will fill the streets with live entertainment. Fully armored knights will engage in a live combat. All of these elements will serve as a unique backdrop for an unfolding drama where you are encouraged to become the hero that saves the day!
