When you support small businesses, you support big dreams 💗

Today I took our daughter to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa 🦈 and she got to experience the Seatrek. The moments your child experiences Wonder, are much fewer when they reach 17, but today I watched it 🙏

Thank you for supporting our dreams, so we may support theirs 💗

🧑‍🌾 Junior Farmhand 🐑 Session 2: Week 2

Today we learned about Turkeys, we got to see one of our Tom’s beard, feet and gizzard up close! We had 3 chicks 🐣 hatch in our incubator & we got to meet all our new farm friends!

The kids worked together to come up with Roost designs for our chicken coop and we will start building them next week 🛠️

Our home assignment was to write a story, pretending you are a Turkey living in a farm, the day before thanksgiving. What would you do? How would you feel?

I can’t wait to hear all your creative stories next week!

FIND OUT WHY OUTSIDE PLAY IS CRUCIAL FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE LEARNING TO READ AND WRITE

"Readers need strong eye-muscles for tracking and time in nature helps this happen. On uneven terrain, kids are constantly adjusting their gaze. This begins as early as infancy for babies who are held on hikes. With each step the slight up and down motion forces the eyes to work together, strengthening their ability to track.
An adequate writing posture is needed for emerging writers. This posture begins with core strength and balance. Today, many kids are so movement starved that they are falling out of their desks for no apparent reason at all! The ability to sit still actually begins with movement. Children who engage their bodies in diverse and complex movements develop what is needed for desk sitting."

I was once told in the comment section, that the only reason I raise meat rabbits is because my “husband is too CHEAP to provide grocery money”……
A huge laugh for me and those who actually know him, followed by utter shock, because that lady truly believed I could just eat meat from from the store, to spare the animal.
I understand that home butchery is hard for people, because it’s an art we are losing and many don’t grow up exposed to. When I was little, my family was always growing, dispatching and processing their own food. I knew from a very young age that if chickens didn’t lay, they were turned into soup, that when my dad brought home piglets, they would be harvested and we would have bacon and hams. Everyone worked in our homestead together to provide, and I wasn’t shocked by seeing a live animal dispatched. Many have moved away from home harvesting because of convenience, laws and state regulations. But for the majority it’s easier for someone else to raise the animal and take that animals life, because you don’t feel anything buying a faceless package of meat that been shipped around the country or even world, and because people have no connection or knowledge to tend livestock. If you’re eating meat straight off a grocery store shelf, how can you comment, “Ewww, Grossss, Go to the store! I can’t believe you eat that!”, to someone raising, harvesting, providing local sustainable food?
You’ll always see me posting this process, because education, on all fronts is something I refuse to lose.
And I encourage you to keep rearing livestock, teaching those who need guidance, passing down valuable traditions and honoring those lives who sustain us.

We were missing most of our TOT’s this morning for class but we had a fun day!

Ruby & Red 🦃 are a little too friendly for some of the kiddos so we’re working on boundaries.

Miss Cotton is a little escape artist and like the grass outside the pasture much better 🤦‍♀️

Thank you all for being patient with me this morning! My Clavicle is feeling much better, but I’m still really sore. I have to take it easy the next week so I don’t reinjure it. 🙏💗

Miss Steph is back tomorrow with Books & Branches and Little Acorns!

Miss Snow is new to milking and isn’t the biggest fan 🐐

She’s been especially uncooperative with hand milking and Friday morning, she won the fight. 🤦‍♀️ In making her stand, I felt a pop and had immediate pain in my clavicle. It felt like it had dislocated. I managed to get through the weekend and went to have it looked at today. Thank God 🙏 it was just out of place and it needed to be reset. Really thankful for my chiropractor for helping me get some serious pain relief.

I’m still sore and some movements are still not quite possible, but I’m sure after some rest, I’ll be feeling much better by next week 🤞

Classes will resume as scheduled, I just have some limited ROM, so we’re going to make a few modifications and hopefully you will all be patient with me. 💗

Can’t wait to see all my Tot’s tomorrow 😁

We are Thankful for this beautiful bird, the 2 years he ruled the coop and for the way he will feed and nourish our family, and animals. 🙏

🦃 Raising our own Turkey each year is something that’s really important to our family and helps us to appreciate our food so much more.

Our Tom had a peaceful day, and was humanely processed here by our family. He went from the yard to the brine and will stay in the brine until it’s time for the oven on Thursday.

We pray you all have a beautiful and blessed Thanksgiving 🙏🦃

Our pump, filter & cover are here 😁 we’re so excited to finally be able to get his hydrotherapy started.

He’s been spending almost all day outside and coming in at night. We’re rotating his brace and “Super Suit”, aka his BeneFab wrap and he’s doing very well 🙏
