(Long Post) True Story: I gotta say this had to be the GREATEST night of my entire career playing music! I was playing Jazz In The Gardens, I think it was 2012, well I was doing the normal intermission 15 maybe 20 minutes when Scott from AEG Live, the production company, came on the radio and told me to just GO, GO, keep going because one of the main cables had burned out and it was gon take about 45 minutes to repair it. WORDS TO MY EARS! I took slap ass off. I'm in that Old School wide ass open, for a straight hour. Long story short, THIS GUY was ready to go on stage, but told the stage manager "Let young buck go, we need to get this energy back up after that long delay." It was on at that point. Mind you, they had full techs on-site, the cable was fixed in about 20 minutes. He let me play and I had him and 60k swanging in that bih. He finished performing, and my sister came frantically waving me to come here, come on. So I'm looking crazy, like what's wrong, what's going on? She said "Frankie wanna meet you before he leave, he asked me for your card", I'm thinking she playing. How the hell she get to him? How he knew who I was? All types stuff running through my head. I was shaking, nervous as hell. I go, I meet him, I can't talk for a second, didn't hear nothing he said, all I can think of was my Momma. This her favorite artist, not only did I just open for him by default, but I'm about to send her this picture. This going on her wall.🤣🤣🤣🤣 Couldn't tell me nothing for a month. 🤣🤣🤣
I've done a lot of shows with a lot of artists, but that was my defining "Momma, I Made it!" moment. 🤣🤣🤣 He asked if I would come and play at one of his final shows before he retired, and all I could say was Hell yeah, excuse me YES SIR!🤣🤣🤣 Unfortunately, we never got that call. But that's OK, my heart is full and I'm cheesing like hell to be so blessed, and be a blessing, to one of my heroes.
He had a long fight with cancer, but he continued to make appearances and move people with all the grace he could muster. Well done King. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
R.I.P Mr. Beverley and Thank You for the memories, and making a dude from Ft. Pierce, FL dream come true. 💜
