In Athens, Christmas is a magical time of the year when the city comes alive with festive lights, decorations, and events. The holiday season is a time for families and friends to come together and celebrate the joy of the season. From the twinkling lights that adorn the city streets to the Christmas markets filled with handmade gifts and delicious treats, Athens is a winter wonderland during this time of year.

One of the most beloved traditions in Athens during Christmas is the lighting of the city's Christmas tree. The towering tree is adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and is a symbol of hope and joy for the holiday season. Families gather around the tree to take pictures, sing carols, and bask in the warm glow of the lights.

Throughout the city, churches hold special services to celebrate the birth of Christ, and many people attend midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. The sweet sound of carols fills the air, bringing a sense of peace and joy to the city.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Athens is bustling with holiday preparations. The streets are lined with vendors selling traditional Greek sweets like kourabiedes and melomakarona, as well as handmade ornaments and gifts. Families gather to bake Christmas cookies and decorate their homes with festive wreaths and garlands.

As Christmas day approaches, the excitement in Athens reaches a fever pitch. Children eagerly await the arrival of Santa Claus and his gifts, while adults look forward to spending time with loved ones and reflecting on the blessings of the past year.

In Athens, Christmas is a time of love, laughter, and joy. The city is transformed into a winter wonderland, filled with the spirit of the season. From the ancient ruins to the modern city streets, Athens is a magical place to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.

Public Announcement: Plaka’s is taking a break.

Due to unexpected family circumstances, we have to postpone our service to our community for a time. We hope to expand to catering, a permanent location, and merchandise sales in Plaka’s future and grow the brand within DFW and beyond. For now, we must tend to family needs and place our business on hold. We love you and thank you for your support during the last two years. We will update you as we know more about what the future holds for Plaka’s Greek Kitchen. Many blessings, big Texas hugs, and much love from our team.
