My favorite part of a maternity session is the last ten minutes before the mama-to-be leaves. We are usually chatting about the session and what she’s planning to do after, and the moment comes. She looks at me and says, “It’s been so long since I’ve felt this beautiful. I felt so comfortable and peaceful.”

In that moment, I know that my real job is done.

This sacred time between dream and fruition is one of my favorite things in the world to photograph. The joyful anticipation and fervent wishing give birth to an expectant energy that is palpable and is so easy to document beautifully.

This senior portrait session was extra special to me! Leena’s mom and I are friends, and within minutes, we were all laughing and chatting like old friends, walking around the Japanese Gardens, chasing the gorgeous light.

Leena is obviously so gorgeous but also authentic, kind and an old soul. By the end of the session, my heart was full, and I was in so much gratitude that I get the privilege to document such precious milestones.

We met working in the mental health field. She was a bad ass champion for those who struggled, and I always admired her determination and sweet heart.
Today, she’s expecting her first baby! It was truly an honor to document this sacred time.

Documenting the sacred time right before a woman holds her baby in her arms for the first time is one of my absolute favorite things. There’s a sweet, delicate expectation in the air and the hope is palpable. When the session is over and she invariably says, “It’s been so long since I’ve felt this comfortable and beautiful,” my eyes fill with grateful tears. This is more than a profession to me. It’s heart work and I’m so, so thankful for this gift.

In this time of uncertainty, it was so healing to document something that never changes, the love, hope and excitement of welcoming a baby to the world. This family is so dear to me, and it was truly an honor to photograph this precious time.

I’ve known this gorgeous mama since we were two years old! She’s the kinda person that exudes joy, happiness, and always keeps you laughing! It was an honor to photograph her beautiful family, and I left with a such full heart!

You guys, this is a really special one for me. I taught this gorgeous girl when she was in pre-school!! Her mom has a picture of she and I on her last day of pre-k, and now we have one together to celebrate her last year of high school! They came in from Georgia, and we spent time together catching up and chasing gorgeous light.
She has grown up to be an amazing theatrical dancer, has an amazing, sweet heart and is so fierce and determined. It was an absolute joy to document such an exciting time in her life!

This gorgeous girl braved the 100+ degrees temps yesterday, and made it look so easy! As you can tell, she is absolutely stunning. She also happens to have to most beautiful heart.
I’m so excited that college grad pics are now a thing! She just graduated with her degree in Social Work, and I can’t wait to see her go out and change the world!

Mina & Matt were married at the most gorgeous ceremony, surrounded by family and friends.
Luckily, the rain stopped. The sun came out, and we were able to get beautiful portraits then dance the night away. This was a special one, ya’ll!

I have a confession to make. The day I found gluten-free donuts, I actually cried tears of joy. I had been grieving the loss of freshly baked, warm, gooey, deliciously glazed donuts. It’s a whole thing. Imagine my delight when I saw this gorgeous donut wedding “cake”! Isn’t it just lovely??

As I was writing in my journal this morning, I attempted to process the last week of my life.
My mom left this world, and we laid her to rest. I flew back and forth to Arizona four times. Although I was conflicted about it, I attended the .co United conference. My family encouraged me to go, and my husband booked another round trip ticket, so I could go back to Arizona after the funeral.
I expected gorgeous styled shoots and amazing education. What I didn’t expect was the explosion of love, hope, hugs, authenticity and joy. I was surrounded by some of the most amazing people I have ever met, and it was exactly what my heart needed. Thank you to everyone who looked after me, found the countless things I lost or forgot and made sure that I was ok. It was an experience that I will never forget.

Happy Sunday, friends! Well, we've had another laid back weekend... Trips to the farmer's market, movies & sleeping in. Who is this person I'm becoming?? I'm just going to soak it all up before busy season starts!
Today, we officially started demolition on our 100 year old house!! To say that I'm excited would be a huge understatement! The whole house is being remodeled, and I can't wait to share our progress!
Any tips for preserving our sanity??
