Our original little shop on Rural Street is re-opening tomorrow night! She’s back & better than ever - it feels SO good!
In case you’re new here - let me give you a little history. When they announced mandated closures at the beginning of the Covid era - it changed everything. We had no idea when we locked the door at Rural St. that night it would be closed so much longer than the predicted 2 weeks. The next step was reopening with restrictions - but because our shop was so small, we could only have a few inside at a time - that made it impossible to be open. We decided to change the 8,000 square foot painted furniture showroom at our warehouse into our new store. It was so much larger - one big open space - so we could accommodate more people. We built displays and temporary walls, added cozy lighting and did everything we could to make this huge, cold industrial space into a store that was Urban Farmgirl. We loved the extra space to expand in ways we never could at our little shop on Rural. We added more large furniture, more merchandise in general. We love it. Our customers love it. But still, every time we’ve been open since, we’re asked multiple times a day “when will Rural Street be open”?
We LOVE our Rural Street store. It’s where it all began. We had no idea when we opened those doors in 2012 it would grow to be such a large part of our community. But with the addition of hosting Main Street Market & the new larger location - our business kept growing and we just couldn’t balance a second store - the timing just wasn’t right. But now it’s all worked out the way it was supposed to and we’re so happy to be back!
To be clear - this is a completely separate store from our Madison Street location. The merchandise you see at one - you will not see at the other. They are very different spaces - Rural Street originally was a neighborhood grocery store. It’s quaint, it’s cozy. I believe it’s the last one of its kind to still be open for business in our city. The first floor was the grocery store, the second was the owners apartment so it feels like a “home”. 🖤 Come see it for yourself this weekend! We can’t wait to welcome you back!
