How to Keep Your Dance Floor Lit (Literally and Figuratively) 🕺💃
DARK IS A VIBE. Nobody wants to drop it like it's hot with the lights on. Dim the lights and wait until after sunset to get the group dancing started. Summer weddings? Check Google for sunset times—you might need to push things later in the day for that moody dance floor glow.
LEAN INTO THE CHEESE. Sunglasses? Glowsticks? Foam fingers? YES. Confetti poppers, conga lines, and the Cha Cha Slide? DOUBLE YES. Sure, it’s a little over-the-top, but that’s why it works. People love an excuse to let loose!
PUT THE DANCE FLOOR CENTER STAGE. The dance floor should be the Beyoncé of your reception—right in the middle and impossible to ignore. Add uplighting, a custom monogram, or whatever extra sparkle you want. And pro tip: keep the bar nearby so the dance floor is the place to be.
BOOK A DJ/BAND THAT SLAPS. Hire a pro. DJs and bands know how to read the room, play bangers, and turn your reception into an unforgettable party. Don’t sleep on this—it’s worth it.
FAKE IT WITH A PHOTO. Call everyone to the dance floor for a big group photo. Once they’re there and the pic is snapped, BAM: dim the lights, drop the beat, and watch your dance floor transform into a party zone. Works. Every. Time.
FUEL YOUR GUESTS. Dancing is cardio (kind of), and nobody wants to pass out mid-Macarena. Keep the water flowing, the snacks hearty (hello, late-night sliders), and the bar open. Hydrated, happy guests = a packed dance floor all night.
These tips are basically a cheat code for keeping the groove alive. So go forth and create a reception that’s more club vibe than awkward high school dance. 🪩✨

Everyone asks about budget breakdowns so here you go!
I’ll admit, I’m always a little hesitant to post budget breakdowns because the reactions are wildly different. Comments range from:
“That's insane, why would you spend that much on one say!” 🤯
to…
“These numbers are laughable— you can't get married in AZ for less than 50K😅
Let’s just clear the air:
➡️ This isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s a general guideline for how some allocate $30,000 if that’s their wedding budget. Your actual budget will depend on your location, priorities, and guest count.
The key here? Spend where it matters most to you. If florals make your heart sing, go big there. If you'd rather prioritize an amazing photographer or entertainment, adjust accordingly!
And this is where tools like Wed&Done can be a lifesaver. It helps you figure out where to splurge and where to save by guiding you through your planning path step by step. No need to stress about whether you’ve accounted for everything!
That said, this breakdown doesn’t include:
👉🏼 Transportation
👉🏼 Wedding rings
👉🏼 Honeymoon
👉🏼 Invitations (cuz maybe you're going digital?)
👉🏼 Party Favors and gifts (don't think these are super necessary)
👉🏼 Rehearsal dinner
👉🏼 Bridal shower or bachelorette party
👉🏼 Videographer (I’d suggest reallocating funds from decor for this!)
👉🏼 Full-service wedding planner (TIP - check our link to make FREE wed&done account and get a fairy godmother who will handle all this for you)
👉🏼 Vendor gratuities
Planning a wedding doesn’t have to mean sticker shock—just focus on creating a day that feels perfect for you. Wed&Done can help simplify the decisions, so you know exactly where your money is going and feel confident about it. 💍✨
