Meet the Owner
Kassia (pronounced Ka-sha) May is originally from Binghamton, NY, but has lived in Queensbury for 20 years. She has her B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh and has extensive experience in the child care field. When she moved to the area she started working part time in the babysitting room at the Glens Falls YMCA and continued working there for 10 years. Aside from the babysitting room, Kassia worked in the after school programs and summer camps and eventually was hired as the Child Care Director. She has also worked in many day care centers and schools.
Her most recent professional work, prior to opening Kassia’s Play Dates, LLC, was done at the Warren Washington CARE Center working with victims of child abuse. There, she was a forensic interviewer, victim advocate, and community outreach coordinator for 7 years. Also, Kassia, along with the former Executive Director of the Wait House, designed a parenting program (Healthy Parenting & Mentoring) that is meant to give parents extra support, resources, and education in order to be the best parents they can be. The program will complete its third year at the end of May and has had 43 families participate.
She is the mother of two beautiful girls, Elliana (3.5) and Kinsley (1.5). With her own personal need for a reliable babysitter from time to time and seeing similar needs from so many families she worked with, Kassia set out to close the gap in services and provide a safe, secure, reliable, and convenient babysitting service and play center. Kassia believes that every parent and child deserves quality child care even if it’s just for a short amount of time
