We help you to create a beautiful and Loving ceremony and perform it professionally and legally for you. It’s our goal to help you to create a ceremony that will be a reflection of who you have become as a couple. Ceremonies are performed by The Reverend JC Jenkins, Interfaith Minister, with Joyous Journey Celebrations, who is a Professional Wedding Officiant, Reiki Master Healer, Medicine Mother,

and Lightworker. From civil ceremonies to grand weddings, your marriage will be legal and beautifully performed. We are non-discriminatory and LGBTQ friendly, however, we reserve the right to refuse our services if it is illegal in NYS (or wherever the ceremony is performed), we feel the union is of deceitful intent or one without the main ingredient of Love. We service the upstate New York, Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Albany, Herkimer Counties & surrounding areas, but will travel throughout NY performing ceremonies where it is legal by the city/town/county to do so. Ceremonies can be performed almost anywhere from a city or state park, churches, reception halls, living rooms, or your backyard. Whatever makes it most personal and special to you is how and where you should begin your life together. A non-refundable retainer is required to hold your date and time. We book on a first-paid, first-reserved basis so your retainer fee should be paid ASAP to secure our services for your ceremony date and time. Winter ceremonies are contingent on the weather and roads being clear between Gloversville, NY and you. As a professional, I am not only concerned about my health, but the health of the people around me as well. For this reason, I am responsibly fully vaccinated against both Influenza and COVID-19. Depending on the current state-wide limitations, if any at the time of your ceremony, attendance may be limited with social distancing in place.

Yesterday I got to do a RE-Wedding in Mohawk, NY. The pup is Loki who decided that my foot was a comfortable place to sit during the ceremony. Whenever I need to count my Blessings, I think of times like this. I am SO Blessed!!!!

I LOVE being a Wedding Officiant, and I consider myself a pretty flexible and go-with-the-flow type of person.
That being said, it REALLY frosts my cookies that we are still considered one of the less important items on the checklist when planning a wedding. We are usually one of the last people booked, we are always way too expensive for “JUST 20 minutes” of work (I’ve already written my thoughts on this), and are more often than not forgotten when changes to the ceremony happen. Well here’s a newsflash… the marriage doesn’t happen without the Officiant!!
Lately, my venues have been telling my couples that they really don’t need the Officiant at the rehearsals. Ummmmm WHAT??? Venues think it is all about lining them up and walking them in and out. Most are not interested in letting the couple know about wedding traditions and letting them know that in most cases it’s OK to deviate from them if they want something different. Venues use the “what works best for them” policy. They have no clue what the couple has included in the ceremony itself so on the day of the wedding, not only is the Officiant confused, but the couple is nervous about what they need to do during the ceremony itself. I not only work with the couple but the attendants as well making sure that we all know who is doing what, what I will be asking them (if anything), and sharing some helpful hints I have learned over the years. There is nothing I like better than to have that clueless stare in my eyes when I’m in front of 300 people and trying not to embarrass myself or my couple. NOT!
I apologize if this is coming out as a “bash the venue” rant. It is not my intent. Most do a magnificent job organizing, arranging, catering, serving, and the hundreds of other things they need to do to make things perfect. The one thing they could do better is to create relationships with the Officiants. Working together always makes things run seamlessly and less stressful for all.
So I implore all of our wedding coordinators and venues to please consider recommending to the couple that their Officiant be present at the rehearsal if they are having one. It just really makes sense.
