Let’s talk about touring venues! Here’s a list of questions you should be asking! Would you like us to answer these questions about Hudson Springs in a follow up post?

1. What extra costs/fees will I have from the venue? Security, set up fee, clean up fee, insurance, rehearsal etc.
2. What is your alcohol policy? And are there extra costs from the venue regarding alcohol
3. When and how long will you have access to the venue?
4. Will there be venue personnel on site during my event?
5. What is my weather back up plan and how far in advance does the venue need to know?
6. What is your max capacity? At max capacity is there still room for a dance floor, photobooth or other things that might be important to you)
7. What is included in the venue rental?
8. Am I able to come see the venue after booking?
9. Does the venue provide any support during the planning process? (Ex: timelines, floor plans)
10. Can I bring in my own vendors? What vendor requirements do you have?
11. What are the clean up/tear down responsibilities?
12. Am I able to have have my rehearsal at the venue the night before?
13. What makes your venue different from every other venue?
14. Are there any restrictions? Vendor restrictions? Decor restrictions?

You’re engaged! Now what? Part 2

You’ve estimated a guest count, figured out a budget, researched vendors so now it’s time to nail down some vendors!

1. Choosing quality vendors is important! We recommend starting with venue, planner and photography/videographer. In our experience, those book the furthest out.

2. Let’s focus on venues! Things to consider while on the search for venues
-price, on average the venue is 30-40% of the overall budget but may need to be less based on your budget priorities
-is your date available or are you flexible
-how far are you willing to travel
-is your expected guest count over the venue’s capacity
-does your color scheme/style clash with the venue
-does the venue venue fit your needs
-does the venue have a plan B for weather
-does the venue photograph well

2. Set a realistic budget!

3. Start researching vendors! Find reputable vendors and gathering prices.

4. Start figuring out a rough estimate for guest count! Guest count plays a role in venue selection and your food/alcohol budget.

It’s always worth adding a private last dance to your timeline! Here’s a few questions we get about private last dances

-When is the best time to do a private dance?
Right after you send the guests outside for the send off!
-Won’t it be awkward for the guests?
No! Typically it takes time to prep the send off item, instruct the guests and line them up properly! This can take several minutes. This is the perfect opportunity to add in a dance
-Why should we consider a a private last dance?
So you get beautiful reception pictures like these with you and your new spouse!
