We all know that playing around with color is fun, but you might be surprised to learn how your brain responds to it.
First, a little color theory refresher. The 3 primary colors are red, yellow, and blue (RYB).
Remember learning about ROY G BIV? Well, orange, green, indigo, and violet are called secondary colors. They're made by mixing two primary colors.
When you mix a primary colors with secondary colors the results are tertiary colors, or as I like to say, the rest of them.
With that all behind us, let's get to a few effects of color.
🌸 Green and blue colors aid in dopamine release. We adore dopamine! It helps us with everything from sleeping to waking up and most everything inbetween. These colors are associated with feelings peace and satisfaction.
🌸 Red has the longest wave length of any color. It can be seen from far distances. It's a powerful color and symbolizes love and devotion. Romeo and Juliet, blood-brother pacts, and Valentines come to mind when I think of red. It's a confused color though because while it inspires devotion, it also conjures up feelings anger and dominance. [Mic drop] Suffice it to say, we're cautious with red and use it very intentionally.
🌸 Yellow has the second longest wave length on the color spectrum. Yellow makes us giggle, gives us hope, and deluges our disposition with sunshine. Yellow aids our focus and crisps up our mental clarity. I'll take a round of
