3.5 weeks later, the lions are officially fading at the Zoo!
Using tempera paints and high-quality soft chalk/pastels really helped the durability and high pigment. 😁
Of course, they would come off with a nice powerwash, buttt I hope they keep it a few more weeks so we see how long it can last!
Some factors that determine how long chalk art can last are: foot traffic, humidity, surface texture, quality chalk, tempera base paint, wind, and rain.

Materials I loved to use were from Eternity Arts and Blick Art Materials.

Guys, I found a ladder! Lol. 👌
Glad I could take an aerial shot of the 20'x 16' mural I completed this month. "Great Plains Zoo Boo." 16 hours to complete.
How fun is it that the animals have costumes on and they are trick or treating too!! 🥰

Had fun playing with sparkles and face paint for my make shift costume for Valleyfair Amusment Park . I body painted some ethereal "tattoos" on for fun. 🌛🌙✨️⭐️
Face paint doesn't have to be the focal point of a costume. It can just act as an accessory!
Also peep the cute scarecrow👌

And my lovely friend was the main character in Coco the Disney movie and asked me to paint her face! We had a FUN time!! 🎃✨️

Candy corn scavenger hunt! This was a quick way to get the littles entertained by trying to find all 10 on the sidewalk. 🤍🧡💛
I put some different arrows to lead the zoo guests at the Zoo Boo event. So fun and easy to make them with tempera paint (liquid chalk).

This was a fun 10 foot by 12 foot chalk mural I completed this week called "Jungle Royalty." The other half had King Simba. Wow, it was hard to take a picture. I definitely should have got a ladder!
A bit challenging with all the wind, but all in all, I'm very happy with the end result.👌 if you've seen Amahle in person you know she definitely deserves a crown 😍

Simba is my favorite!! I'm so happy with how the details of his face turned out. 👑
This was my first time using soft chalk and pastels. It helped having a great reference photo to map out the proportions!😘
This was the King half of the "Jungle Royalty" mural I created this week. 10 feet by 12 feet, using chalk and tempera paint.❤️

All done with the 10' x 12' chalk mural called "Jungle Royalty!"👑
This mural took 9 working hours to complete. The details in the faces and crowns took the longest! What a fun week I had !
I'm Hannah, the Artist behind Run Til You Fly. Art has always been a hobby for me. Now I do it professionally too on the side of my full time marketing job.

I'm going to need a ladder to take an aerial picture of the finished mural!✨️📸
Fun for me to see the sketch vs the real thing. I shared my sketches with The Chalk of the Town and she was such a big help!!! Not only for encouragement, but she gave me so many useful insights on how to do chalk murals efficiently and what tools she uses. Please go follow her if you haven't already. 😁
This was done with sidewalk chalk by , pastel chalk by Eternity Arts in MI, and student grade tempera paint from Blick Art Materials .
I used rollers, chip brushes and paint brushes from Menards
I also stayed warm in 30 degree weather with my Java Moose beanie hat!!! ☕️

Day 3 done and the "Great Plains Zoo Boo" mural is complete! ✨️🎃
16 hours in total to complete. The size is 20' x 16', with a little extra for the limbs and roots of the trees 😘
I am very proud of this piece, especially since it is the biggest chalk mural I've ever done. Thank you everyone for your words of kindness, support, and words of encouragement. 😍😊🥰 it takes a lot for someone to put themselves on the line to be 'judged' at this big of a scale. Imagine putting 16hours into a project, hoping it fits the perception of "good" that others have. It can be a little nerve-wracking, if you know what I mean. ❤️
I'll be out at the this week doing some more chalk art, so stay tuned!! 🦒🦁✨️

Haunted House, Moon, Trees, and LOTS OF BLENDING!🌜👻
This was Day 2 progress of the "Zoo Boo" chalk mural!
The majority of the day was spent blending the vibrant colors together. The extreme wind made this super tricky. The chalk would blow away faster than I could rub it on the sidewalk! 😬🙄
The wind actually blew the heavy barricades onto my working area, and a big container of water spilled over the moon! It actually turned out well 😂
On a positive note, shout out Victoria and Dustin from the Great Plains Zoo who made sure I had some hot chocolate to keep the chill out of my bones. 🥰
Tim (maintenance) and Sarah (groundskeeper) have been a big help with the barricades and making sure I have what I need and things are running smoothly! Couldn't ask for anything else. ✨️
Families are so positive that have walked by. So many shout words of encouragement like, "you're a really good artist", and little 4 year Olds saying, "keep up the good work!" One family even wanted to take a picture with the ARTIST, I had to remember that's me!😊😀
