Range update:
Been a soggy few weeks with all the rain but we're continuing to make improvements at the Impactzone.
—Moved a second shooting bench to the 100 yard line at the Long Range Bay.
This is the one that was under that deer stand on the trailer and it's in pretty good shape.
(Also moved out the broken gray bench at the 100 yard line as it wasn't really useful and obscured targets at longer ranges.)
—Have installed gun racks into Bays 1, 2, 3, and the Long Range Bay.
—Also accumulating more tires to use for building and refurbishing the berms.
Thanks to everyone who's provided tires or gave us a lead on acquiring more.
Already inducted several more members this year.
And have some classes happening on the 18th, 25th, and 26th (will give more details in a separate post).
Happy to have y'all as members and hope to provide y'all with more improvements in 2025!

Range update:
•Building a new backstop for y'all!
And we need used tires from anywhere and everywhere to help complete it.
After thoroughly going over the range with a laser rangefinder, it's now unavoidable to conclude that the long range bay only stretches out to 265 yards at most.
Fortunately, there's an area behind Bay 6 I can use to extend that to the full 300 yards we were all promised.
And as a side benefit, Bay 6's main berm will get upgraded to 8 feet while building / rebuilding the side berms for the 300 yard tunnel.
However, this process is becoming far more expensive than anticipated.
As of now, one of the cheapest options to use for construction of these berms is old tires.
So if you know of a source we can get more from, I would be grateful to hear about it.

2025 is kicking off with a whole slew of classes in January!
Be sure to sign up and sharpen those skills!
Sunday, January 5th in Bay 4 from 830am to 11am:
(elitetwo.com) will be hosting Beginning Pistol.
Saturday, January 11th we'll be hosting 3 classes at once! So lots to choose from.
January 11th in Bay 1 from 9am to 4pm, SEAMOK ( ) will be hosting a 2 day class called Gut Bucket 1 (covering close range pistol skills).
(I am the point of contact for this class so please contact me directly to sign up and pay).
January 11th in the Long Range Bay from 10am to 4pm KR Training and Greig Performance Shooting host Midrange Mastery, an intermediate / long range rifle class.

As we roll towards Christmas week, wanted to let y'all know we have a a bunch of upcoming events at The Impactzone even right around the holidays.
So heads up! We have:
—Tuesday, Dec. 24th. Range 6 will be reserved for a private class from 10am to 2pm.
Friday, Dec. 27th, Bay 5 will be reserved by Defiance Tactical for Basic Handgun Marksmanship from 9am to 1pm.

Range Update: The 300 Yard Line is now open!
So very happy to post this, as it took awhile chew up and move everything to the point I felt comfortable publicly making this announcement.
But now I am pleased to tell members you can do:
Intermediate range rifle shooting
AND
Clay pidgeon shotgun shooting
at The Impactzone once more!
There are a few new rules I must add however.
Will be tacking these on the Facebook and website FAQs as well.
-1) When entering at the 100 yard line, HONK 3 TIMES (or yell out if on foot).
Only then open the gate to pass through.
Close the gate behind you once through.
Anyone uprange needs to take these Honks as an immediate "Cease Fire!" until all parties in the long range bay can work out exactly how to proceed so everyone is safe and no one is down range of live fire.
(This is due to how the long range bay is set up, and will need to continue until I can get more berms built.)
-2) Rifle fire out farther than 100 yards needs to be from a supported or prone position.
-3) Any skeet/trap style shotgun clay pidgeon shooting needs to be ONLY be done at the far back 300 yard line.
Only use Number 7 shot or smaller.
Pidgeons need to be launched straight down the long range area. This is to give the shot as much distance as possible to lose energy, and to keep shot from straying in the other bays or the neighboring property.
The narrowness of this property isn't the greatest for clay pidgeon shooting, so trying to make a reasonable compromise.
-4) Driving directly anywhere between the 100 and 300 yard lines is at this point NOT RECOMMENDED.
There's still a lot out on the ground there, including mesquite stumps, that can damage tires.
So if you drive your vehicle up there to use as a shooting platform, you do so at your own risk.
—4b) You are now authorized to to drive up to (but NOT on) the 300 yard line on the side road to the right.
But it is a dirt road that will turn to mud in the rain, so consider yourself warned.
This is just a general framework of additional rules I had to throw up for the extended range area.
I sincerely hope y'all understand and will have yourselves a great time improving uour skills.

Quick range update:
—Found a suitable final spot for Phil's old truck.
With the truck barely road worthy and with a host of issues, including Zero power steering, it wasn't really suitable as even an on-range cargo hauler.
So now it's at the 300 yard line as an alternate raised shooting platform once we open that longer range area back up again.
I think Phil would've thought that's an excellent repurposment of his final chariot.
—Speaking of the extended range area, we're inching ever closer to getting that open for y'all.
The 300 yard area has been chainsawed clear and most of the rest of the mesquite down range is gone except for some stumps that need clearing so we can drive trucks there once we get tires back on those two trailers that are currently in the way.
We're also spraying herbicide on all the stumps once they're flush so yhey hopefully take longer to come back and clutter up the place.
(Thanks to member Ron Rushing for the herbicide recommendation.)
—Also keeping busy getting rid of all those carpenter ant mounds.
As well as clearing the last of the mesquite out of the back parts of Bay 3.
Lots more improvements coming down this month and into the new year.
