Last Light in Hawai‘i

As I prepare to close this beautiful chapter, I have one final event and a few remaining photography sessions before officially exiting Hawai‘i. I will also be teaching this week.

This moment carries deep emotion, gratitude for every soul I’ve photographed, and excitement for what’s ahead.

Hawai‘i has shaped me not only as a photographer but as a storyteller. Every session was more than a shoot; it was a connection, a celebration of light, and a lasting legacy. To everyone who’s trusted me to capture your memories here, thank you from the heart.

This presentation introduces April Amelia Photo, a creative space built on passion, storytelling, and light. Through the lens of photography, I aim to teach the art of seeing beyond the surface, capturing emotion, essence, and narrative in every frame.This session is designed to help students understand not only the technical foundation of photography but also the intention behind each shot. From lighting and composition to storytelling and subject connection, we’ll explore how to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary works of art.Photography is more than clicking a button; it’s about presence, perspective, and purpose. Whether using a phone or professional camera, the goal is the same to express, inspire, and communicate visually. By the end of this class, my hope is that each student walks away not only with stronger technical skills but with a deeper appreciation for how photography can shape identity, build confidence, and preserve legacy.

As I paint with my camera

Every frame is a brushstroke of light,
every shadow a whisper of depth.
I don’t just take pictures,
I paint with any camera,
turning fleeting seconds into living art.

You can try to imitate,
you can try to replicate,
but you cannot copy what God created.
The soul He placed in me,
the vision He carved in my spirit,
isn’t something you can duplicate.

Because what comes through my lens
isn’t just seen, it’s felt.
It’s prayer in motion,
purpose in focus,
truth in its purest form.

And when you stand before the work,
you don’t just see me.
You see the reflection of the Creator
who made me.

November 29 will be my final photography session in Hawai‘i before my move in December. This closing session is a meaningful milestone for me, and it also means that my availability is very limited. I will only be accepting a small number of bookings between now and November 29, and once those dates are filled my calendar will officially close in Hawai‘i.

Although November 29 is my last session, I do still have one large event to cover before I leave. That event will be my final assignment here and a way to close this chapter with gratitude and honor.

As I prepare for this transition I carry the love and support of my Hawai‘i community with me. My journey continues with upcoming sessions, the release of art books, and the beginning of teaching photography classes. To everyone who has entrusted me with your memories, thank you. Your support has been the foundation of my work. This is not a goodbye to the work I love, only the start of a new beginning.
