As beautiful as blossom time is in the Hood River Valley, I cannot imagine how much stress it is for farmers! When the fruit tree buds open they are very susceptible to being destroyed by the elements. Last night there was widespread freezing temperatures which means the farmers have to do everything they can to save the fruit. I was out photographing the stars over Mt Hood all night long and captured this image on my way home just before sunrise. The orchard fans are buzzing and many smudge pot heaters are lit up as Mt Hood stands tall in the background.
