Before the Thanksgiving, and holiday rush, we wanted to take a moment to be thankful for all of the amazing couples, and beautiful brides, we have had the honor of meeting this year. We have created the florals and bouquets for many weddings, but each one is special and unique. Thank you for sharing your special day with us.

FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM EDT THURSDAY
Sub-freezing temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s expected.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
Bring potted plants inside or into the garage!
Use a blanket, sheet, burlap, cheesecloth, towels, or newspaper to cover plants before nightfall. This traps warm air around the plant and insulates it from the cold.
Mulching at the base of plants can also add a layer of insulation.

For those who don’t already know, our wonderful Wh**ey crossed over the rainbow bridge Monday, August 26th. Wh**ey was a professional at the register, an honorary quality controller of cat mint, and a true friend. She brought fun, laughs, and lots of purring to the greenhouse and property as a whole. She was called “The Queen of the Greenhouse” because she strutted like she owned the place. She loved her treats and demanded them as a Queen should. She is greatly missed and deeply loved.

HARDNECK Garlic is now available for purchase at the greenhouse!

Here are some tips for planting hardneck garlic:

* When to plant
Plant in the fall, about six weeks before the first frost(which is now). Hardneck garlic needs to experience cold temperatures for a few months to develop bulbs.

* Where to plant
Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Sandy, clay, loam is ideal, but you can plant in heavier soils in raised beds.

* Prepare the soil
Mix compost into the soil before planting. You can also add lime and fertilizer, such as bone meal or fish meal.

* Prepare the cloves
Remove the papery outer layer of the garlic head, but leave the papery covering on the individual cloves.

* Plant the cloves
Plant the cloves 2–4 inches deep, with the pointed end facing up and the root side down. Space the cloves 6 inches apart.

* Mulch
Cover the rows with mulch, such as straw, grass clippings, or chopped leaves, to help retain moisture and reduce weeds.

* Water
Water during dry periods, but stop watering a few weeks before harvest.

* Fertilize
Apply fertilizer in early spring and again just before the bulbs swell.

* Harvest
Garlic is ready to harvest when the leaves turn brown and the garlic falls over.
