Had an AHHMAZING time it was so many great event planners/event coordinators/event vendors in the room and we were all there with ONE common goal and that was to COLLABORATE! Want to know how to use something as common as your 5 senses to have a successful event?

Consider the last time you went to the beach. Do you solely remember the sight or sound of the ocean, depending on where you're located, the beautiful smell of the ocean, the delicious meal you had, the beautiful sunset, and the softness of the sand between your toes?

So how do you apply that concept to planning a conference?

Smell
Perhaps the most neglected sense during event planning. The key here isn’t so much to try to make your event space smell a certain way, but to prevent sensory overload for your guests
Taste
This might just be the single most important sense for conference attendees. Most people stay for the food lol. Even if your event will be short, your guests will appreciate a light snack. If your event is catered, take care to choose a caterer who prioritizes quality products.

Touch
This isn’t a difficult sense to engage during event planning. In fact, it really only requires adding final touches to existing factors in your conference. Simply adding tablecloths and comfortable chairs can take a lunch service to the next level, which your guests will appreciate because these small details add a sense of quality to their experience.

Hearing
Hearing is the easiest sense to disengage during your event. Microphones that are too quiet can be just as frustrating to guests as those that are too loud. If there will be no speaker during your meal service, playing some quiet instrumental music can both add to the atmosphere and drown out the background chatter

Sight
The easiest sense to appease when planning an event. The simplest way to do this is to choose an aesthetically pleasing venue with good lighting in the meeting spaces you’ll be using. Having great decor that correlates with the experience you want your guest to have heightens the experience even more

Chiiiilllleee listen!

Y’all, i went to setup for one event(i had no part in the planning process) and I pulled up to the front and it’s literally ON THE STREET! There is no sign that says parking in the back, side or across the street. I wasted at least 15 minutes of my time just looking for how to enter the building. If I’m setting up and I’m lost just imagine how the guest were lost!

The location of your event should be super easy to find and parking should be accessible. If the budget does not permit you to find a place with easy access, please be sure to inform your attendees on how to have an easy trip to your event!

If you have out of town guest, be sure to pick somewhere that has nearby hotel accommodations and food for quick access and of course to experience the city.

Everyday is another day that I have to either say an affirmation, pat myself on the back for even the smallest things, pray and cover my mind, it’s always something that I have to do, to make sure I don’t fall back into an inadequate or peon mindset.

👀Is your lack of confidence blinding you from seeing your achievements?

I’ve had so many people say, “I’m proud of you” and my response is mostly “I ain’t did nothing”. I just go through life living and serving and doing, I never took the time to sit back and look at everything I accomplished. Truth is I never saw them as “accomplishments” more like just doing what God told me to do. My lack of confidence and trying to make sure I was humble blinded me from actually seeing the success and fruit of my labor.

💪🏽I’m going through the journey of boosting my confidence, I wrote down EVERYTHING that I could think of that I’ve done or things people have told me I’ve helped them with and smiled! I didn’t realize the amount of things and impact I made. When I start to doubt myself on my ability to do things or feel like I’m not worthy or I’m just a peon, I look at this list because everything on that list, I had to take a risk and step out on faith and it’s evidence that God will be with me through it all! He gives vision,provision and protection. How dare I stop doing the things he called me to because I choose to allow the enemy into my head and tell me I’m not enough!

Do you turn into EVENTZILLA when you are hosting an event?

You’re a nervous wreck. You’re so frustrated you find yourself lashing out at everyone. You’re on edge and your emotions are at an all time high.

When I was in event mode(for my own event), I used to lash out on everyone! My parents, siblings, friends and even the person I was dating. I had EVERYONE walking on eggshells. The closer It got to the event, the more you could see everyone trying to make sure they did everything I asked them to do or they would just know to tread lightly because there was no telling what I would do or say depending on what they would do or say. I think one time I almost told my mom to shut up, I said ALMOST, I'm alive right haha! This was because I was planning on my own and wanted EVERY detail PERFECT!
Not only was I not allowing Holy Spirit to have his way, I was not allowing anyone to come in and help me with the planning and organizing. I was overwhelmed, frustrated and could no longer see the vision that was set at the beginning because of all of the clutter of planning ALONE. I had to wear ALL of the hats and was not able to engage with anyone during the event or see the fruit of my labor.

💡I had to do something different, I had to shift how I was doing things! I sat down and put together a strategic and organized way of planning to where it’s not overwhelming and each step ties into the next step to ensure I’m not missing anything as well as made sure I had a trusted team!

Are you allowing your desire to stay humble make you feel inadequate,undeserving or feelings of low self esteem.

I struggle with this daily y’all! I serve so much, I never want anyone to think that I’m doing it to be seen or want acknowledgment. This is honestly why I stay behind the scenes so much! My pastor told me the other day, it’s time to come from behind and know that humility does not mean My self esteem should be low and that’s exactly how I was living.

💎True humility is actually derailed by self-hatred and undermined by low self-esteem. This is because humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is just thinking of yourself less. On the other hand, all self-demeaning thoughts center your attention on your sense of lack, drawing away your affection for God and others.

❗️Humility means you are teachable, influenceable, correctable and vulnerable. Humility can learn from the least, is moved by a child, embraces a rebuke, and lives in authenticity. Humility lets others take a bow while you take a seat. It is honor in action and love authenticated. True humility means that you recognize your need without condemning your soul.

❓How do you practice humility? Glad you asked, It all starts with going on a journey of receiving God’s love for yourself, and learning to become friends with your own soul. It may not be an overnight fix, but every step of the journey is an invitation to know God more, and accept the beautiful way He created you.
