Are you worried about hurricane season for your destination wedding?

While this is a legit concern, allow me to put your mind at ease…

Just because it is hurricane season doesn’t mean a hurricane will develop. Here are a few tips to help you overcome this concern:

Research weather patterns and locations before deciding on a venue. Some regions of the Caribbean or Mexico are at higher risk than others.
Have a backup plan. Much like planning an outdoor wedding anywhere, weather could pose an issue. Make sure your venue has a backup area that you like.
Be flexible. While your dream may be to say “I do” on a white sand beach, manage your expectations and decide in advance that you won’t allow weather to “rain on your parade”. ;)

Tip #2: Envision the setting of when you say your “I Do’s” - a beach, garden, gazebo?
Tip #3: Clarify where you want to host the reception and what the decor will look like
Tip #4: Agree on an overall vibe that reflects you as a couple: intimate, energetic, extravagant, etc.

Create a vision!

When consulting with couples who are planning a destination wedding, I always ask them to paint a picture for me of what it looks like when they say, “I do”.

Close your eyes and start there. Then, write it down…the style, decor, colors, setting, lighting, anything that comes to mind.
