Are you a doctor? Yes, I am! I have a PhD. in Environmental Toxicology, and while completing my dissertation, I created a collaboration with the CDC in Atlanta and Harris County Medical Examiner's Office to create a marriage between Environmental and Forensics. I have been a forensic toxicologist for about 15 years. Guess what? In graduate school is where my business started.

A lot that I have learned was by taking chances in graduate school.

Being a forensic scientist provides a unique set of skills and perspectives that can be highly beneficial as a wedding and event planner. Here are some ways in which my background can be advantageous:

1. Attention to Detail: Forensic scientists are trained to notice even the smallest details, ensuring nothing is overlooked in the planning and ex*****on of events.

2. Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze complex situations and data helps in problem-solving and making informed decisions, which is crucial for managing the various aspects of event planning.

3. Organizational Skills: Forensic work requires meticulous organization, which translates well into coordinating multiple vendors, timelines, and logistics for events.

4. Stress Management: Forensic scientists often work under pressure and handle high-stress situations, equipping them to stay calm and composed during the high-stakes moments of event planning.

5. Research Skills: Strong research abilities help in finding the best venues, vendors, and solutions to meet clients' needs and expectations.

Baby... I couldn't get my makeup done or change clothes. I was at the venue from 9am-1am (16 hours) not including hours up until the day of. It was hot and I was literally running from one side of the venue to the next but to get this review was well worth it.

When I first met you and I seen your work 10 years ago I told you that you were going to do my wedding. I kept my word because immediately after he proposed to me, I texted you and Pastor Oliver. I know we was a bit much especially my groom- zilla lol. All the late night calls, all the meet ups, all the changes, times I got worried and frustrated, and allllllll the questions that we had you made sure you was able to get a answer for us or help us figure it out. You never once got an attitude, complained, or spoke any negativity when things didn’t go as planned especially when the devil showed his face. From the countless trips back and forth, to the photoshoots and the meetings you were very hands on with the entire planning process. To know that you took so much pride in our wedding, just as we did, to make it successful is something that we will never ever forget. We couldn’t ask for anything more.

Thank you for making our dream come true and for the extra surprises that you added in for us at the reception that we had no idea of. The stamp you left on our wedding not only left a lifelong impression in our hearts, but more importantly you left one in the hearts of our parents, family, and friends as well... Everything that you did for us didn't go unnoticed and we loved everything about our day.

TIME IS WORTH MONEY!

There is more to an event than just a specific vendor showing up the day of an event. You can't ala carte time. A professional vendor mind starts working from the initial conversation. Each client brings a different perspective so all clients are not the same. So professional vendors have to change their thought process with each client. Remember when your complaining about any vendors fees it is based on more than them just showing up the day of an event. Any professional vendor no matter what they offer toward an event mind starts to race on the onset of the first conversation. All that equals to vendors time. Time consists of thought process, hands on, and changing ideas to name a few. Most of any vendors time is not done the day of with most vendors its done before and after. The day of is only what the client can see with their physical eyes. Any professional vendor stays up late and rises up early. Respect people's time and respect their work. Remember you pay for what you get.

What came first designing or planning?

Good question. Planning came first for me. I begun planning while in grad school because I was apart of the National Organization of Black Chemist and Chemical Engineer. I would have to plan events for the kids and then it moved to putting dissertation and thesis celebrations together. Most were small but made big impacts. One day a light bulb went off I can be making money by doing this.
