The “grand canyon” of Texas: Palo Duro Canyon just south of Amarillo is magnificent! It is the second largest canyon in the US after the Grand Canyon and you can drive to the canyon floor for hikes. If you are driving to Colorado via the Panhandle it is well worth a stop! But start early as it is 100 degrees by noon!

If you are a hiker and a summer wildflower lover, you have known the frustration of not knowing if your favorite hike is in bloom yet for the season. The free app I discovered called inaturalist tracks where the flowers are blooming wherever you are and identifies them. You can explore your local area if your smart phone’s location setting is engaged, find flora and fauna observed by other naturalists in the area and upload images you take to share with others. The Wildflower Whisperer has spotted 40 Sierra wildflower varieties in the past 2 weeks, thanks to a late snowfall and cool Spring. These are California Poppies, Spreading Phlox and Elephant Heads.

The details in this dreamy Garden District style rehearsal dinner at Brennan’s were to die for. From the custom made oyster shell linens, antique gold chargers, calligraphied oyster shell place tags, elegant menu cards and New Orleans style lanterns and garden district flowers, every detail worked together for a beautiful event! It’s time for a coffee break…a Cafe Latte to be exact. That is the name of the large mauve rose in this neutral to blush design.
