It’s our last show of the year!!!

Homecooked: On Connection through Creation

This group exhibition celebrates savored moments– the nostalgic scent of a home cooked dish, the warmth of a meal shared with friends, and the lingering joys of time spent with loved ones. Inspired by the way that food brings people together and art connects us as creators, this exhibition explores the intersection of these two realms, elevating the experience of both.

To make the night more special, we’re also hosting a potluck during the reception. If you’re interested in contributing, please fill out the form in our bio!

It’s been a joy organizing these exhibitions this past year, so let us thank you all by offering a seat at our table! Hope to see you there :)

Sleepy Cyborg is excited to present our group show Stolen Glances this Friday!

Exhibition opening and reception
Friday, March 28 // 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Sleepy Cyborg Gallery
Sewall Hall, room 258 and Sculpture Courtyard

Limited number of customized matchbooks available first come first serve. There will also be a table size charcuterie board and other refreshments.

Stolen Glances explores the intimate, fleeting, and often unspoken moments that shape our understanding of ourselves and others. Inspired by an introspective and voyeuristic approach to storytelling, the exhibition presents works that uncover what lies beneath the surface - quiet gestures, hidden emotions, or the unguarded moments we often overlook. The pieces on view delve into themes of vulnerability, secrecy, intimacy, and observation, reflecting the quiet power of the unsaid. Featuring diverse mediums, from painting and photography to installation and sculpture, Stolen Glances draws viewers into a space where they feel like both the observer and the observed.

Hotel lobbies, museums, and bathrooms seem to be the only places that exhibit abstract art. Standing in front of them, the audience is often confused, unsure of what they can feel or take away from these formal shapes or objects. This confusion discourages us, emerging artists, from experimenting with abstraction because of its negative associations. This group exhibition celebrates and encourages students who approach art as a formal exploration— pieces that might not always convey a deeper concept but reveal a curiosity towards textures, forms, and sounds.
