In my new book, "the diary of a DJ", I wanted to get a few of my brides' input on what it was like planning their big day. I asked Jordan what she stressed the most over and wished that she hadn't, and she said she spent so much time worrying about whether the guests would enjoy the caterer they chose, whether they would think their wedding was too colorful, and if their guests would like the drinks they offered. In the end, she was glad that they made decisions based on what they enjoyed and the meaning behind them.

🎼In my new book, "The diary of a DJ", I talk about dinner and dinner music in one of my chapters. What's a good choice for dinner music? Something nice and easy, but should be different than what you're playing for ceremony music. I always try to match music with what's on the dinner menu; if it's pasta-oriented, then my go-to's are always Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin. Good 'ol Texas BBQ, some good Texas country, like Cody Johnson or Pat Green. And depending on how many guests you're having, you want to only play dinner music for 30-45 minutes. Then it's time to pick up the pace!

🎼As both an officiant and a DJ, I've been asked by a few brides (and mentioned it to others) about what to do with their engagement ring before the ceremony. There are two ways to handle this.
The most popular way is to remove the engagement ring and have the groom place it in the ring box with the wedding ring and then he can place them both on her finger, starting with the wedding ring. Why? The wedding ring always goes on the finger first because it's closest to the human heart. And besides, in all the excitement of the moment, she may not remember to take off the engagement ring before the wedding!
The other way is if she doesn't want to take off her engagement ring is to transfer it from her left hand to her right, just for the ring ceremony. Then she (or the groom) can put that ring back on her left hand. But, unlike the first scenario, she may not remember to do the transfer! 💍

🎼Monday night I did a wedding in Port Bolivar/Gilchrist. I've done quite a few weddings at beach houses, but this place was phenomenal. It's called Beauty and the Beach on Hwy 187 and if you want a true beach wedding, this is the place. It's not all cramped up like some beach houses are, plenty of space for parking and dancing, convenient power close by the altar(which DJs love) not to mention a beautiful view of the beach in the background (which photographers love). So I've been quietly working on a project over the last few months, something that I'm just over-the-moon excited about, and so I thought I would give you guys a little sneak peek as the book is being formatted and prepared for printing! I got the idea from a good friend who published a book of his own. For me, it just turned on like a light: to write a book basically revealing all of my tips, suggestions, secrets, routines and everything I've experienced by DJing weddings for over 21 years; things that every bride should know. I love coaching and educating brides, but those are only the ones who've trusted me enough to book me. There are thousands of other brides everywhere who just don't know what to do and don't get a lot of answers. I hope it's a big seller, but more importantly, I hope I can reach enough brides to make a difference! 🎼

There are so many thoughts going through your head at that very moment; it's the moment you pretended as a kid having that dream wedding.
