Are you currently looking for your dream wedding venue? One with historic architecture? An immersive experience for you and your guests? Happy (“big wedding” - covid couples, you know what I mean!) Anniversary to Chelsi and Randy! I’m not sure I’ll ever see Jason marry another couple, but it sure was a blast to witness the first time!

If there’s one thing that I could tell my past self about planning a wedding, it would be to hire a professional planner. I wish I knew then what I know now about how valuable having someone to manage all the little details really is.

It might sound straightforward, but had I hired a professional to oversee the intricate parts of my own wedding, I would have avoided the unnecessary stress that distracted from the joy of my engagement. I learned the hard way that while the details are important, they shouldn’t overshadow the experience.

From that lesson, I’ve embraced the role of ensuring no couple has to go through what I did. Now, I handle every nuance—from the seating chart intricacies to the timing of each toast—so that every couple can focus on what really matters: enjoying their special day to the fullest. This not only enhances the celebration but also allows me to craft truly unforgettable weddings.

So that’s a heartfelt note to my past self. Can you relate? What’s something you wish you knew before diving into wedding planning?

OH, AND PS: If you, unlike I did, realize the value of stepping back to enjoy your engagement while an expert handles the details, click the link in my bio to see how I can help make your wedding beautifully seamless!

Never underestimate the power of lighting in your wedding design. Candles are always a favorite way to create ambiance, but what happens when you aren't allowed to have real flames at your venue? Or you don't want to use LED candles?

Up lighting, pin-spotting, and other types of specialty lighting are essential for creating drama, highlighting the aesthetically prominent parts of your reception like centerpieces and cake, and can even be used to draw the eye towards (or away from) certain parts of your venue! Not to mention interactive lighting to get the crowd going on your dance floor.

Be sure to talk with your planner (or production company, if you're going the wedding management route) about how you can use lighting to up-level your design!

One of the most emotional decisions couples face is whether to have a first look before the ceremony or wait until the walk down the aisle. Both are beautiful, and create different tones for the day -

First Look: A private, intimate moment between just the two of you (and likely you photo + video team), giving you the chance to let go of the nerves and soak in the excitement together before the ceremony. Having a first look allows you to spend more time together and with your guests, since you'll have the option of enjoying cocktail hour or a private meal instead of post-ceremony photos.

Waiting Until the Ceremony: Some couples are set on this sweet and timeless tradition of seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony. The emotions are raw, the energy is electric, and all eyes are on you! Though not logistically ideal for the couple who has a ton of family photos and/or wants to join cocktail hour, sometimes the anticipation is priority!

Whether you want an intimate first look or prefer the classic aisle reveal, we'll make sure it's exactly how you've envisioned - it's all about what feels right for you!

There's a profound sense of fulfillment in getting to see a couple’s first reaction to their wedding design—a moment where their dreams, our planning, and the effort and skill of their team of wedding professionals converge. The process of getting from concept to reality isn't always simple, but seeing their vision brought to life with such emotion is why we dedicate ourselves to this craft. It’s an honor to be a part of such a significant chapter in their lives.

There are a few steps to sorting out who will be contributing to your wedding budget and how much. . .

• FIRST have a conversation with your partner about your financial comfort zone. My suggestion is to set the total max number you’re comfortable spending together, MINUS a 10%-15% contingency.

• Talk with your families individually about how much and IF they would like to contribute financially. This amount shouldn’t be shared with anyone else - it’s not a competition or something that has to be “fair” - it’s simply the amount they want to gift to you.

• Talk with your planner about the total amount you have available, along with your overall vision for the wedding (intimate but lavish, large guest count but more casual, any high-priorities, etc.). This may be where your planner has a coming-to-Jesus talk with you about budget vs. vision vs. guest count, but knowing the financial big-picture means you can allocate each dollar based on what’s important to you, rather than on what someone told you you had to spend.

One topic that often gets overlooked in wedding planning is post-wedding decompression and recovery time. Couples invest months or even years planning their big day, but there’s rarely enough focus on what happens immediately after the wedding.

Many couples head straight into a honeymoon, which can be a whirlwind, leaving little time to process the emotional high, exhaustion, or even the post-wedding blues. Taking a day or two after the wedding to just rest, reflect, and decompress before diving into the next event (or back to regular life) can make a huge difference. It helps the couple transition smoothly and savor the moment, rather than just rushing through everything.
