Bates-Tabb House

Bates-Tabb House Currently under rennovation, the Bates-Tabb House is located in downtown Houston, Mississippi.

Built between 1845-1850, it is the only remaining antebellum home left in Houston, but still has a long life ahead of it.

With renovations officially starting on the house today, here are some photos of its current state & a little history 👇🏼

The Bates-Tabb House is a historic home located in Houston, Mississippi. It was built between 1845 and 1850 for J. C. Keeney, but was sold to Judge William Stout Bates in January of 1864, in the midst of the Civil War (1861–1865).

Judge Bates served in the Confederate States Army during the war, and it is said that the house was briefly used as a hospital during this time. His grandson, Winfield Bates Tabb, who served as the mayor of Houston from 1925 to 1928, lived in the house until his death in 1981. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 6, 1982.
