We have been working with Catherine and Sherwin for the last 3-4 months and we can’t wait to celebrate these two this weekend in Jersey!

✨How did you guys meet?
We matched on an Indian dating app after being influenced by Family Karma. We would later find out that our paths crossed earlier and met over the phone years before. The connection was instant and chemistry was undeniable. When we first started dating, Sherwin was just about to start residency and Cathy was going to move to Baltimore for a job; however, within 6 months Cathy moved back after breaking a very expensive lease.

We both tend to have extreme ways of gift giving and showing affection towards each other.

Start early to secure vendors you really want, stay organized with specific task lists and reminders, and split responsibilities based on each others’ interests or strengths. Clear communication is key to effective wedding planning and to strengthen your relationship during this process. Always remember to appreciate your person and the end goal in all this, even when the stress of wedding planning is trying to get the best of you.

We met through mutual family friends! Our story begins in the most unlikely of places: Instagram. What started as innocent DMs quickly escalated into virtual Chipotle dates.

We have so many family members that know each other both in U.S and in India, yet our paths only crossed in the past three years, which truly blows both of our minds!

We both participate in martial arts and love practicing together. We are both loves of music and like to make up silly songs together and entertain ourselves with them!

On our first date, I insisted that Sibu stepped out of his comfort zone and try a cuisine he hadn’t experienced before. Little did we know, the broth was made with coconut, and it sent him into anaphylactic shock!

We met at Thomson’s best friend’s proposal, and with a little help from our friends (shoutout to the Samuels siblings) we fell for each other right away. The day we started talking, we never stopped. And the rest is history!

We love traveling and exploring new places together so much to the point that Thomson planned a surprise proposal and flew out to Greece while I was on a girls trip. It was an incredible memory getting engaged at sunset in Santorini!

We met 4 years ago when we were both in Cleveland for our careers and matched on Hinge. Our dog, Pierogi, was the perfect wingman. He opened the door for Kevin to ask Tanya out in person to enjoy Cleveland’s famous pierogies.

Although we grew up only a few pews away from each other at church, we really didn’t talk to each other until 2018 at a Bible Study! A friendship sparked as we continued to serve within our church and the rest is history

We share the love of exploring our city and trying the best places to eat in Dallas. Within our 3 years of being together we’ve tried and eaten at over 600 places in the DFW area!

Remember that wedding planning is an opportunity for you to build one another up. This reminder kept us humble and trusting in one another consistently even through the toughest parts!

We met through a dating app!

Vishnu and Mouna both grew up in the same area, and had many mutual friends and connections in common. However, the couple didn’t actually meet until they matched online while living on opposite sides of the country!

✨ What advice do they have for future brides and grooms based on your wedding planning experience?
Wedding planning is an incredibly special time during a couple’s relationship. Our advice would be to begin this process by coming up with a manifesto or some key guiding principles that you can come back to help guide your decision making throughout this journey! For example, we as a couple, care deeply about our communities, and prioritized locations, dates, and events that would allow the greatest number of family and friends to attend.

✨How did you guys meet?
Our story actually begins virtually but not through the more common routes that everyone has come to know and love such as DilMil but more professionally through LinkedIn. We went from complete strangers to talking everyday! Despite primarily being in a long-distance relationship, we believe that the distance has strengthened our relationship. But, we’re ready to say goodbye to the distance as we get closer to our forever.

Our relationship having begun virtually blossomed over the phone through texting novel sized paragraphs about medications and our days since we’re both in the field of pharmacy and meeting up only a handful of times.

“My sister and Shobin’s brother-in-law had been attempting to matchmake us for years, but the timing wasn’t right. Fast forward to 2023, Shobin had moved back to Houston and my sister mentioned it to me once more. I told her I was open to the idea, and a few weeks later, Shobin texted me. After our first date, we really hit it off, and after that, well, you know how it goes!

A few of our favorite things to do are watch movies through Discord together and go to arcades. We could be doing nothing or everything but still have the best time.

Embrace the planning process together. Planning can be overwhelming but do as much of it together as possible. Appreciate each other often. Take breaks and remember to continue to date each other throughout it all!

Nikhil, who can never keep a secret from Meenu, managed to pull off the most epic surprise proposal! The ring went on its own adventure, traveling from Jersey to Mexico to California. He even crafted a fake Instagram cover story and enlisted Meenu’s cousins to trick her into dressing up for the big day. Talk about a ring with frequent flyer miles! 💍✈️💞

Hire a wedding coordinator and it really is never a too early to start when it comes to wedding planning 😂

We are celebrating Janson and Emily this weekend! We can’t wait to get these two married soon!

✨How did you guys meet?
We actually met by chance through Instagram! Janson messaged me while on a night shift in residency, and we never stopped talking. As we continued to get to know each other, we realized that we had unexpectedly found exactly what we were looking for. Ladies, respond to those DM’s, you never know what could happen 😉

✨Share with us a fun fact or unique detail about your relationship that makes it tuly one-of-a-kind!
In the 3 years we’ve been together, we’ve lived seperately in 7 different cities. Although it has been so fun to explore new places and visit each other, we are excited to be coming home to each other and building a life together so soon.

✨What advice do you have for future brides and grooms based on your wedding planning experience?
Decide on what is meaningful to you as a couple and as individuals, and try not to lose sight of that! There will be hundreds of decisions that need to be made, so work together and go with your gut. From there, stick to your timelines and divide tasks based on each person’s strengths!

A Malayali wedding is so unique, and having an experienced team that understands those cultural nuances was important to us. After attending several weddings by the various planning services out there, we were most impressed with the professionalism and results of Our Day Events and they have not disappointed!
