TUESDAY TIP! Mix old and new furniture/decor to create a layered professional look! Here’s some DO’S & DONT’S:
DO keep the color palette simple
DON’T be tempted to fill the room…keep it simple
DO follow the 80/20 rule…approx 20% should be old/vintage/antique when mixing
DON’T use really worn or outdated upholstery. You can reupholster a piece and still keep its old charm!

TUESDAY TIP! It’s the perfect time to decorate your outdoor space, especially your entry. It doesn’t have to be grand or large, just inviting!
1. KEEP IT CLEAN
2. Add interest on the ground - you can paint the floor or get an outdoor rug.
3. Have seating, even if it’s just a small chair or bench
4. Add lighting and color
TUESDAY TIP: Small Kitchen? No problem! 1. Choose a light, neutral palette 2. Interesting, functional lighting counts! 3. Break up cabinetry by removing some. 4. Don’t waste space with accessories that don’t do anything 5. Think about organizing spaces and storage
TUESDAY TIP: Tile is king when it comes to bathrooms! Yes, it can be a pain to clean, but this trend isn’t going anywhere soon. To keep from getting overwhelmed, find 1 tile you LOVE and build from there. It doesn’t matter if it’s for floor, walls, shower, etc...just build on the one you love most. You can mix patterns, but be careful that the scale of pattern is different. As always, refer to a pro for help when needed!🛁
TUESDAY TIP! Don’t forget about the 5th wall in your room...the ceiling! Even if you don’t do anything decorative on the ceiling, always make sure it gets a fresh coat of paint when redoing a room! If you’re feeling adventurous, try a color, a stencil, metal tiles, wallpaper, or add beams!
TUESDAY TIP! Bring the outdoors in🪴 Garden rooms are "growing" in popularity. It seems that nearly every homebody has a fiddle-leaf fig, snake plant or pothos plant hanging out in the corner. Adding live plants to your home have therapeutic benefits in addition to looking pretty - just make sure you dump those plastic pots they come in, and use containers that compliment your decor.
TUESDAY TIP! Always decorate for the season, holiday, or special occasion. Change out a few pieces of decor to create special touches that make you and guests feel warm and fuzzy. It doesn’t take much to celebrate special times with small seasonal accents, and it will most certainly lift your mood when you put those fun pieces on display. HAPPY SPRING!
TUESDAY TIP: MATCHING FURNITURE SETS ARE OUT! The matchy-matchy look is boring and lacks a personal feel. This is true for bedrooms as well as other dining and living spaces. If you’ve invested in high quality matching furniture, try replacing just 1 thing. New nightstands or a headboard can transform your room and can be budget friendly too! Replace the dining chairs just on the ends to add new life to a boring dining room!
TUESDAY TIP: CHOOSE PAINT COLORS LAST! Repeat after me - “I will not choose paint until everything else is done.” It’s ok to have an idea of what colors are going on walls, but don’t jump the gun! You can ALWAYS find paint to match those perfect throw pillows, but finding pillows to match paint? Not so easy. If you’re redoing a room, make all other selections first, then decide on paint color!
TUESDAY TIP: BE FEARLESS, BE BOLD! If your home isn’t for you, then who’s it for? You’ve always dreamed of a bearskin rug? Do it. Purple walls? Do it. Polka dots, crazy colors, leopard print, gold leaf, antiques, etc? DO IT. You can make almost anything work and achieve a bold look. Focus on 1 or 2 bold pieces or areas and keep the rest simple. Don’t be afraid to ask for professional help if you get stuck!
TUESDAY TIP: STAGE. YOUR. HOME. When listing a property to sell or rent, staging it properly can make a HUGE difference! I'm not talking about sticking a plant in a corner and guest soap in the bathroom either. Showing buyers the home's potential and creative use of space is essential! Investing just a little time and money before selling or renting will be well worth it🏡💲
TUESDAY TIP: Mix old and new! Vintage pieces paired with new and modern gives your room character, especially when using pieces that have meaning to you. Curate pieces that are unique and make you smile! When using antique or vintage pieces...keep the rest SIMPLE!

TUESDAY TIP! One word - wallpaper. Is wallpaper really making a comeback? The answer is YES! I’m obsessed with it. These are not your grandmothers walls. You can go bold, textured, metallic, simple, dark, etc., the possibilities are endless. Get rid of some of those “greige” walls and create a truly unique space.

TUESDAY TIP: CLEAR THE CLUTTER! Is this photo giving anyone else anxiety?! Clearing clutter can be overwhelming, but it’s SO rewarding! Start small, maybe just a desk or bookshelf. Get rid of anything that has no special meaning or purpose. Once you’ve accomplished a small project set your sights on a whole room. If this is something you know you can’t handle, hire a professional...it will definitely be worth it!
TUESDAY TIP: One of the most common decorating mistakes is hanging art or photos TOO HIGH! Wall hangings should be at EYE LEVEL or lower in some cases! Not sure about proper scale or placement? Ask a professional (hint hint).
TUESDAY TIP! Think about the entry to your home...what does it say about you? One of the most neglected areas of a home is the entryway. Your entry/foyer tells a story about the rest of the home - is it a mess? Cluttered? Dark? Unwelcoming? Boring? A waste of space? Make your home’s entry a functional but lovely area that greets all who enter with a snapshot of what they can expect from the rest of the house.
TUESDAY TIP! Get organized! Small spaces can be neat and tidy too, and they don’t have to look like those unrealistic giant pantry’s you see on tv! Take some time to work on the spot in your home that drives you crazy and invest in making it the organized space you dream of...your future self will thank you for it! Hiring a professional organizer is another great way to start 2021 off right (hint, hint).
TUESDAY TIP! Always choose color palettes YOU love. Trends come and go so you don’t want to be stuck with colors you’re sick of in a couple of years. Always go with a color scheme YOU want to live in🎨🍭🌈

TUESDAY TIP:
LIGHTING MATTERS! Change out those tired, boring ceiling fixtures. It's a very affordable way to add life to a room. If your space allows, look for "semi flush mount" fixtures for bedrooms, they don't hang as low as a pendant or chandelier and you'll get a lot of bang for your buck!
