We are so grateful to all our wonderful Indy Parks volunteers! In 2024 thousands of volunteers contributed 8,090 volunteer hours, supporting projects such as mulching 35 playgrounds, repainting nearly 500 picnic tables, and creating 20 new murals.

All Indy Parks staffed facilities are closed today in observance of MLK day. Parks will remain open from dawn to dusk and regular hours will resume tomorrow, January 21.

While the parks are closed, there are still some events related to the holiday at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, Eagle Creek Park, and Municipal Gardens Park.

On Monday, January 20 we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. To celebrate the great work that he did, you can visit one of these Indy Parks:

-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park to visit the exhibit at the Kennedy King Park Center
-Eagle Creek Park to learn about the legacy of MLK on a self-guided hike
-Municipal Garden Family Center to tour the updates completed by Citizens Energy Group and their partners as a part of their Sharing the Dream Initiative

UPDATE: The City of Indianapolis will utilize Washington Park Family Center as an overnight warming center from Sunday, January 19th 8 p.m. to Wednesday, January 22nd 8 p.m. to accommodate for the extreme wind chill forecasted for Central Indiana.
