We have done several weddings at Avon Gardens. I’m saddened to hear about the passing of the owner. My condolences to the Robbins family

Our beloved Karen, founder and owner of the beautiful Avon Gardens, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 after a three year battle with multiple myeloma.

Karen purchased the property from her grandparents' estate in 1987 and lovingly transformed what was once a family hog farm into the tranquil and thoughtfully planted paradise that
is now Avon Gardens. She started by selling daylilies and irises from her yard and eventually stocked the garden with unique plants for purchase. Karen was always ready with garden tips and advice, so visitors could take a bit of Avon Gardens' inspiration
home.

After many requests, Karen began hosting garden weddings in 2000. Since then, almost 2000 couples have exchanged vows in the gardens.

Karen once said plants are like friends, coming back each year to see you, she loved her family, staff, cats and all the many wildlife that call the gardens home.

Like the mighty oak, bold and strong...those
that follow in her footsteps get to share her wisdom with tales from the past and lessons learned. She was much loved by staff and customers alike. She will be missed by all.

We know many of you will want to come and enjoy the gardens, but we request that you respect our operating hours at this time. There will be no funeral service. To walk among the flowers
is to walk with Karen. For those that would like to pay their respects, we will be opening the gardens Monday, September 4th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Karen loved to share the joy of flowers with others. In lieu of sending flowers, we will be accepting donations for fresh cut flower bouquets from our gardens to be donated to area hospitals and nursing homes. Donations will be accepted in-store and on our website.

A celebration of life will be held here at the gardens on October 15th. More details to follow.

Again we ask that you respect our (operating hours during this difficult time. Those hours are:
Friday 10 am - 6 pm
Saturday 10 am - 6 pm
Sunday Noon - 4 pm
