SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT PROMPTS LOCK-OUT AT ALL MARTIN COUNTY SCHOOLS

Sheriff William Snyder along with the Martin County School District have ordered all Martin County Schools to go on lock-out status this afternoon following an incident reported at Hope Rural School in Indiantown.

Just after 1pm today, a teacher at the school reported seeing an unidentified male jump the fence with a rifle in his hand. The subject saw the teacher and fled in a light grey newer model Dodge Durango. The suspect is described as a white male, with a thin build wearing a white shirt and tan pants. Detectives do have information about that SUV and are investigating who was driving the vehicle and why there were at the school. As a result of this incident, and in an abundance of caution, all Martin County Schools will remain in lock-out mode until further notice. Dismissal times will remain the same. You may notice an increased law enforcement presence at your child’s school this afternoon. This is in response to this incident.
