My wedding day 🤍
Such a fun and beautiful time with our closest friends and family that went by in what seemed like seconds. Thank God for our photographers, because what I actually remember are little flashes here and there…throwing back a shot of bourbon walking to ceremony, the lace of my dress constantly being stuck in my shoes and tripping me, and being like 99% sure I split open the back of my gown (getting married in covid times made everything fit just a little too snugly 😅).
Looking back on that day there are some things that I wish I had done differently:
1) Hire a florist! I did my own flowers because I was too worried that my vision wouldn’t come across in somebody else’s work.
What ended up happening is that I took on a full time job on my wedding week, had to set up ( have my friends set up actually, which is even worse) and then break it all down at the end of the night. All of the vases, candles, flowers, etc had to come home with me. Eff that. And I was so stressed out on top of the stress of my wedding day that I could hardly enjoy the day. Big mistake.
2) Hire a planner. I thought that since I worked briefly with a planner that I could handle it easily. Well yes, if that were the only thing I had to do that day it would have been. It turns out I was getting married and being a florist that day as well, so it was anything but easy.
3) No last minute menu changes. We initially had a really fun menu picked out with a ton of different food, had an awesome tasting and loved everything. At the last minute I panicked, worried that people would think it was weird and did a complete 180 (I’m still cringing over this) to plain ol meat and potatoes. The food was fine, but it was such a departure from what we had envisioned. I just remember longing for those tacos from our tasting…
