Ginataang Halo-halo

A Filipino dessert dish which is composed of different tubers such as sweet potato, purple yam, taro root. Other ingredients include plantains, tapioca pearls, and glutinous rice balls (bilo-bilo).

Dishes that are cooked in coconut milk are locally called “Ginataan”. This word was derived from the root word “gata”, which means coconut milk. On the other hand, the word “Halo-halo” refers to the combination of different components or ingredients that were used to complete the dish.

Other names: Binignit, tambo-tambong.

Best serve hot.
