Confession time- I did not have a photo booth at my wedding.
I also do not have any photos with my grandparents at my wedding.
I was adamantly against having posed family group photos by my photographers. I found the practice tedious and a hot mess trying to organize large groups of people who just wanted to get the party started. So I opted to forego the formal family photos at my wedding, instead thinking my photographers could just capture more candid “in the moment” snapshots with my loved ones.
Let me tell you how much I still regret this decision almost 8 years later.
My grandparents were disappointed they never got photos with us. We were so busy having fun, dancing, and having a great time that we just plain forgot to take photos with them as we made our rounds.
This year I lost 4 of my grandparents. And while we have photos together while I was growing up and a few here and there as an adult, I will never have pictures of them from my wedding. As I grieve all of my losses this year, this is something I think about a lot.
Hire those photographers. Hire those videographers. Hire a photo booth. Pictures are tangible memories you can hold in your hand. Your events go by so fast. There is so much going on. Make sure you take photos with your people, one day it may be all you have left.
Photo booths are not only great at taking your photos in a more candid way, photo booths can be an added entertainment for your guests, and your guests get to take home a copy of that memory.
