Did you know “shish*to” is a Japanese word that means “lion pepper”. 🦁 It’s a perfect name for something normally mild but can roar like a lion if left to turn red (as Randy certainly discovered the other day).

😮😮😮 I can't BELIEVE this is true but...

This week marks one year from the conception of Wooden Spoon Provisions, and I want to tell y'all the story...

I had just lost my job unexpectedly, and if you live out here, you know how scary that can be. I set up at the farmer's market with my beeswax candles. I was hoping and praying my little candle business would take off. I was scared but hopeful.

Misty Langdon came over to my table to buy a candle. She knew I was in a tough spot. She told me I needed to walk down a few booths and talk to Kara Mae, because she was trying to start a business for herself. I believe what Misty actually said was, "If you don't go down there and talk to her I'm going to do it for you because y'all would be perfect together!" How could I refuse?

Our meeting was God at work. We both felt like we had found eachother's missing piece. I needed the tenacious force that is Kara Mae and she needed a chef!

Our conversation that day sparked a fire in us that has led to our dreamy little spot down in Ponca and we couldn't be more grateful.

We have gone through a lot of difficulties getting this business to where it is now. In the last year, we have grown as friends, as people, and as business owners. We feel so blessed to be where we are and can't wait to see what the future holds.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this process, and to the ones who wanted to see us fail... we actually owe you the biggest thanks of all (but that's another story 😆)

We want to especially thank our local community. Seeing y'all come back week after week has been the most enjoyable part of this work. We look forward to every weekend, and it's all because of you!
