Since 2013, the 815 has given young musicians an opportunity to perform monthly. Ages five through age twenty-one are welcome to sign-up. There is no fee to participate or attend. The goal of The 815 is to teach children about performing, performance etiquette, working together and supporting each other as artists, as well as to challenge them as musicians. Email questions to [email protected].
By signing up, you have made a commitment to yourself, the organizers, your fellow musicians, and the audience to arrive on time and prepared. Except in the case of a family emergency, was backing out on the day of the event is not acceptable. If you are ill and cannot perform, please give 24 hours notice. For other reasons, 7 days notice is appreciated.
Reserve a spot on the line-up by adding your name to the list. If you are not already on the email distribution list, include an email address.
A limited number of spots are available. If the spots are filled, a wait list will be added.
Accompaniment musicians may be asked to play for multiple vocalists.
When signing up, carefully check the songs already on the list to make sure the one you are planning to sing isn’t already taken. First-come, first-served. No exceptions.
For vocalists when accompaniment is required, you must communicate your needs on or before the 1st of the month. You will be asked to provide a video or audio link to the version you are practicing with. If sheet music is needed for the keyboardist, you will be asked to email the music in the key you wish for it to be played to [email protected] (PDF format).
No requests for a specific position on the line-up will be taken. If you cannot be there from 1:45 through the finale, please wait to perform another month when you are available.
The sign-up sheet will "close" seven days out, so the line-up and other details can be finalized. The line-up order will be emailed to all participants five days prior.
On the Day
815 events are family friendly. The doors open at 1:30pm. We begin promptly at 2:00pm. There is no reserved seating. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
All performers must arrive and check in with Monica Minogue by 1:45pm.
Performers should wait backstage while the act before them is performing.
Guitarists should bring a stand, and tune their instrument after arrival.
All performers are expected to stay and be attentive to the others performing until after the finale. You are not just there for yourself, but to support your peers. Events typically run 2-2.5 hours.
As a member of the audience, electronic devices should only be used for the purpose of recording or taking photos. You can learn from watching others.
Please refrain from talking, and limit movement in front of the stage during performances.
