It sounds so dang cool to say this business has been a lifetime dream of ours that we have been planning forever! Very cool, but not true. An event rental business was never on the Martin radar until after our youngest daughter, Arin, was married this past January 6, 2018. Yes, January, as in two months before we opened. She wanted a romantic vintage wedding. Our options seemed limited to burlap fabric, lace, and mason jars. Our table choices were round or rectangle. You get the idea. We stressed and searched Hobby Lobby (still a huge favorite) and the web for ideas.
Then our girl brought us a few Pinterest pictures. One was of a hot chocolate/coffee bar on a Hoosier cabinet. We looked at that picture, then looked across the room at our own Hoosier. We could so do this! We emptied our home and moved our vintage and antique furniture to the church. The response to Arin’s wedding venue decor was unbelievable. The recurring words we heard were unique, charming, personal, and “can we borrow your stuff?” All weddings, no matter the style, should have those words! We researched, prayed, budgeted, prayed, talked a lot, prayed, doubted ourselves, and prayed some more. Our newest catch phrase was “We have lost our minds.” Very seriously, we have no doubt that our Father has lead us here.
The experience so far has already exceeded all expectations. To be a part of people’s major happy milestones is the best. To be told that you made it all more beautiful and less stressful is amazing! The plan is to keep praying, work hard, serve others, and go where He leads. Our hope is that His plan will include a thriving business that serves the people of NEA and SEMO and a ton of fun and friendships. Hope to meet you soon, Scott & Teddi Martin!
