Just a little reminder that tomorrow, Friday April 19, will be our last day open for breakfast for the season. We are gearing up for our busy food truck season and look forward to seeing you all this summer too! Our tentative plans to reopen for breakfast is sometime in October. Kiester Business Highlight: Bummy’s BBQ / Kee Kafe & Catering

Bummy's BBQ & Kee Kafe, LLC & Catering are owned and operated by Jerry and Michele Alphs. They began with the Kee Kafe in 2013 and in 2015 began Bummy’s BBQ with a tent. Bummy’s BBQ added a food truck in 2019 and also have a couple trailers.

The couple got into the business because they enjoyed cooking for people and after someone mentioned that they “should try selling” the idea took form.

They employ some part-time help and are often on the look out for new part-time members of the team as typical catering hours or weekends and evening can be hard to fill.

The Kee Kafe did close down for a while as it suffered set-backs during Covid but breakfast service was brought back in January of this year. The Kee Kafe will continue with breakfast service through April 19th. The season will resume again in the fall.

The food truck travels all over, as far as Medford and Rochester and they attended five fairs last year.

The most popular item on the food truck is loaded mac and cheese and their smoked brisket meat. Meat is sourced locally from the Omega 3 Family Farm out of Easton.

The Alphs also cater weddings, corporate events and graduations. They provided catering for a wedding and served 350 people.

Michele is well known for her baking - many community residents are avid fans of her Christmas cookie trays with their variety. Last year, the trays had 12 kinds of cookies and they baked approximately 6,924 cookies. For Valentine's Day, they made approximately 200 dipped strawberries & 300 decorated heart cookies. They teamed up with Nicole from Country Roads Floral & Gifts to make Valentine Packages.

She’ll be offering Easter cookies and Cookie Kits for Easter, as she has for St. Patrick’s and Valentine’s Day as well.

Jerry has been on the Keister Fire Department for 24 years. Michele was a volunteer for the Kiester ambulance for 20 years before retiring in 2021. She has served on the Fire Dept for 14 years and she is the Gambling Manager for the relief association, Small Town Big Heart (a new non-profit that focuses on the improvement of Kiester) and serves on the board of the Kiester EDA. She also works part time at the Kiester Liquor Store to help when needed.

Thank you Thank you Thank you to everyone who purchased Valentine cookies and/or dipped strawberries yesterday. We appreciate you more than you know!!! (And a special shout out to my 'crew' for helping with the final touches & packaging Tuesday. night)
We love baking for you so we will be doing it again for St. Patrick's Day with shamrock cookies and For Easter with assorted Easter themed cookies.
