Don't forget to join us at Western Pocono Community Library for their Beer, Wine, & Chocolate Festival! For $25 you get 5 tastings from different wineries/breweries, there will be a food truck and snacks, and there will be a basket raffle.

And while you're there, check out their Phoebe Conrad Gallery. Her magical miniature dioramas of fairy tales have delighted generations of library-goers. My personal favorite is the one of Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.

We are going to be putting flyers up for Smashing Pumpkins Day - let me know if your business would like one, or feel free to print & hang.

Hopefully we see you there. What else are you gonna do with those leftover pumpkins? Put a Santa hat on them? It's the only civilized way.

Our candlelight séance was a beautiful evening. Thank you to Readings and Reiki by Caisee Lynn for delivering messages from the dearly departed and to Pocono Florist for this stunning floral arrangement. Our charcuterie included garlic & herb butter candles, dark cherries reduced in our dry red Frontenac, cranberry/orange/Frontenac jam, two sets of oranges soaked in our dry red Marechal Foch and Apple Raspberry wines, a cherry flavored candy mix, sugared grapes, plums grilled with brown sugar and Chinese five spice, crispy prosciutto chips, pear & plum wine soaked fruit salad, & chili crisp honey.

Our intended host, Haunted Anthracite Tales, will no longer be able to join us this Friday due to a family bereavement. We wish the best for him in this difficult time and look forward to working with him again in the future.

In his stead, we present Matthew Ando - a lover of local legends and all things paranormal, as well as a brilliant, captivating, and hilarious host.

We hope to see you Friday. If you would like a refund for your ticket, please call 610-681-3959, e-mail [email protected], or send us a message on Instagram/Facebook.

Speaking of milkweed, Dom took these photos in the vineyard just the other day. The milkweed is just starting to disperse its seeds. "I like how symmetrical they look at this stage," he said. The orange bugs you see are large milkweed bug nymphs.

We are following the Penn State study on 'Milkweed as an Eco-friendly Tactic for Spotted Lanternfly Control' with great interest. We've always wondered why we were largely spared from the kind of devastation that plagued other vineyards - could our habit of allowing milkweed to grow have something to do with it? Stay tuned.

Our Roots

Seventy-odd years ago, the men in our family were looking for a place to go hunting. Grandma Millie, our matriarch, was just a girl at the time. Her mother Nana saw an ad in the New York Times advertising 80 acres with an old farmhouse, a barn, and an old school from the 1800’s for sale. Should anyone wish to view the property, the landowner would pay for their train fare to Stroudsburg and put them up in the Indian Princess Hotel. They would also throw in a free set of Melmac dishes.

Nana and Aunt Jo made the journey to see the property. The entire kit-and-caboodle was on sale for $2800, including the various buildings. We still have that set of Melmac dishes.

Their husbands, Kiki (Millie’s father) and Uncle Dom, split the cost of the property and kept 40 acres apiece. Kiki chose the acreage upon which the vineyard now sits. Uncle Dom chose the acreage up on the hill.

The old farmhouse was given some much-needed repairs. Uncle Dom and Aunt Jo lived there for a time until they built a log cabin elsewhere on the property. Kiki and Nana took up in the old farmhouse. Today, it is the exact site of Stephen Strohlein’s house, Millie’s eldest son and our vintner Dominic’s older brother. He made sure the front door to his home is in the exact same spot as the farmhouse’s front door once stood.
