With Beth Wood's roots digging deeper into Oregon soil, her tours ranging east have become rarer and more precious. So last night’s Lafayette concert saw fans converge from California, Texas, and even as far as Florida, to gather and celebrate her poetry and music in the Little Tree backyard. It was a magical evening.
Even the Colorado sky played its part, holding onto its forecast rain until intermission, and even then the rain lasted only as long as the rum cake. So after our break, we toweled off our chairs and enjoyed a second set outside, under a dramatic evening sky.
In her second set, after offering touching words for our dear friend Tom Prasada-Rao, Beth sang her song to him, titled "Let Me Bring You Light," and immediately, with her last note still ringing in the air, the sky erupted into a brilliant rainbow in Tom's direction to the east, in sacrament. We love you, brother. ❤
With Beth’s art setting the tone for the evening, conversation was immediately deep and connection electric. Thank you to everyone who participated and made the evening possible, especially Richard Guthridge Klug and Charlie Lindsey, who offer pre-concert prep work of much younger men (but who’s added years make for more interesting work conversation); Karin Linnér, who worked tirelessly all day to help bring the evening to fruition; Jeanne Symonds, who enthusiastically made good on other’s potluck promises 😎; and everyone else who pitched in. It takes a village to support the arts, and I appreciate everyone who helps make a concert happen.
Next up, Karl Werne, Oct 6. Look for a donation link for that show soon.
