Paul Piazza, born and raised in Abbeville, LA and affectionally known on stage as “Uncle Buck”, has been singing since he could talk and operate a stereo. Elvis Presley and Fats Domino were his earliest influences and but gradually worked his way through the musical decades that was his parents’ music collection. At the age of 12, Paul knew he wanted to be a musician after seeing the movie Eddie and The Cruisers 2. By 15, he had picked up the guitar and eventually the harmonica at 22 after being heavily influenced by Blues Traveler, the Blues Brother’s movies, and other blues artists like Clapton and Butterfield. Paul has been a part of many local bands such as the Beau Young Trio, the Right Lane Bandits, and Quale Manifold. In 2006, he was also the lead vocalist for a band called Gabby Hayz, who released a full-length original material album the same year. He has also his harmonica playing showcased on local artists albums such as Beau Young, Bret Vidrine, and Dustin Gaspard.
For 5 years, Paul was part of the house band at the House of Blues and the Filmore in New Orleans for 5 years, and over the years has shared the stage with Blues legends like Henry Gray, shared a table with Bobby Charles, and played with artists like Andy Frasco and Biz Markie. You may have also caught Paul on stage at JazzFest and Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago!
Although Paul has been performing professionally since 1998, he has been a full-time musician since 2017 and joined the Vermillionaires in 2019. Before going full time, Paul also dabbled in Retail, Loss Prevention, and has been an Emcee, Actor, and stagehand. The influences on Paul’s musical style are large and eclectic, including artists such as The Beatles, The Yardbirds, MB20, Soundgarden, Teddy Swims, Vulfpeck, and Silk Sonic.
