Current trend is solid black dress with monochromatic accessories and flowers, and we’re here for it. 💕 Because I thrift and hoard all the things, I was able to use the perfect fuschia package ribbon from 1989 and a fabulous vintage brooch for the center of the peony. Love, LoVe, LOVE. 💗

Update: August 25 - No news

**Update: July 25 - We have not had a sighting since Friday, July 1st when Texas spent the evening in the Camelot and Northridge areas before disappearing into a corn field near 25 / Buck Creek at 400 N. 625 East. We are in need of him establishing a pattern or finding a place he feels safe where he can reliably get food. We saw from a distance last week that he looks healthy, doesn't seem to be limping, and is continuing on his Iron Man journey. Prior to the fireworks and recent storms, Texas was finally approaching houses in the Camelot/Northridge subdivisions last week. We feel as the fireworks are finally decreasing that we will soon have another sighting to regroup. Thank you for your continued support and positive comments. Please let us know if you see or hear something in Messages (not comments) or contact us at 765-426-7827.

July 8 - Still Missing
West Lafayette, IN

Lost Dog: Texas is a 5 year old, neutered, microchipped, German Shorthair Pointer, with an athletic, muscular build. He went missing on Monday, 6/20 from a new pet sitter’s home in West Lafayette behind IU Arnett in West Lafayette. He was clipped by a vehicle on Sagamore Parkway near the underpass the same day. He was spotted on Happy Hollow Road, then spent time in Bicentennial Nature Park. He then disappeared for a week until he popped up on a Ring camera on Lockwood Drive on 6/30. He remained in the Camelot and Northridge Subdivisions overnight through 7/1/22 when he evaded us again and vanished into a cornfield near Buck Creek near 400 N. 625 East. There have been no sightings since 7/1/22/

Texas is normally a very social dog who is used to going to Doggy Daycare and lives with a dog sister. However, he is in fight or flight mode and has stayed primarily hidden through this ordeal. Our initial tactic of search party and calling for him has not been successful. We initially worried his injuries were so severe that he may not have been laying and in need of help on Monday/Tuesday last week. However, now we know that is not the case.

Dogs typically establish patterns and Texas is smart. He is not making this easy. Texas seems to be out at night and could potentially be picked up on Ring Doorbells, could be finding food sources, perhaps food left out for community cats, and the places he has been spotted have a lot of water sources. We are hoping as time goes by that he will go up to dogs in a fenced back yard or choose someone to trust and turn himself in essentially.

In the meantime, we are ready to regroup and put immediate plans in place once we know where he has moved to. If you continue to help search for Texas, we would like for individuals who spot Texas to keep eyes on him, keep your distance, do not call for him, do not disturb him and call so we can get owners on the scene. They are ready to go at a moments notice.

We are not novices to the lost dog routine and owners have given it their all since last week. We have utilized all the following tactics when we had active sightings of Texas; search party, scent stations, using his dog sister in the areas, family spent time at the park at night grilling food, leaving food for him with game cameras in the area, scent dog, drones, WLFI coverage, canoers and kayakers, and good old fashioned running/walking/driving around to spot him. Once he is spotted, he seems to quickly vanish. He is using the dense tree cover to keep cool and hidden and seems to be sticking to areas with water sources. We plan to attempt a live trap once he has an established pattern again as well. Unfortunately, a live trap is a long shot because Texas has fear/anxiety with crates, however, we do have plans for a larger Missy trap depending on circumstances when he turns up again.

We want to deeply thank our group of followers and the overwhelming response of help and assistance those of you who have aided in the search and shared info. Thank you for all of the drone operators, the Bloodhound and owner/handler who donated time (and was successful…they did spot him at Bicentennial Park on Thursday!) Thank you to all of the people who are donating time and gas to drive the areas. Thank you to all the people who braved the rough terrain, weeds, and bugs to search on the ground. Thank you just doesn’t cover the appreciation we have for you and the reason why we work so hard to maintain this page as a service for the community of pet lovers to help get pets back where they belong.
