Big news!!!! My brother is hitting the woods on November 15th and I’ve been asked to fill in for him at the farm market! So come see my mom and I indoor market on Saturday from 10AM-2PM. Can’t wait to see your faces and have you take some fabulous apples home.

Happy fall! ITC has a little breathing room until our next event and we needed it. Our hearts have been a bit heavy with the loss of our pup and with what our family is going through in WNC……tragedy truly makes you realize what matters most. I’m happy that my career path is about nourishing people, about creating moments with those we hold closest to our hearts, about creating a sense of community. Have a grateful heart my friends and hug those that mean the most (pets and humans alike). And if you are inclined to donating to the relief effort in WNC please reach out and I can send along several options❤️‍🩹

Sunday marks the first day of fall and we are absolutely onboard! Although it still feels like summer it’s time for pears my friends!!!! This is one of our favorite fall salads and we’re so excited that we get to bring it back to the plate tomorrow! Roasted Asian pears, caramelized goat cheese, and a nice cider vinaigrette 🍐 ♥️🍐

Tomorrow is kind of a big deal…..for a few different reasons! Tomorrow not only starts a doubleheader for us, but………we turn 11 tomorrow!!!!!

I’m not sure where eleven years have gone, but I do know that they were filled to the brim with some epic celebrations!

When you’re gardens start to be a little light on garnish blooms and your friend over just so happens to send your husband home with a bouquet of the sweetest dahlias! Well this is what makes Leelanau so damn special 💕. These lovely blooms will be making an appearance tomorrow for L&Q’s celebration!

This time of year is so fun when it comes to our menus! Summer is hanging on……we still have access to so many lovely summer crop items………but buckle up because apples, roots, winter squash, and pumpkins are starting to make their way into being available. This weekend we get to feature Michigan peaches, apples, carrots, broccoli, fennel, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, redskin taters, basil, and summer squash!!! Bounty harvest❤️

It’s a little warm out there today (after a couple incredibly chilly days and nights)……..so if you have a plethora of cucumbers you’re harvesting from your garden (like me)……this is the perfect hot day meal🥒🥒🥒. Chilled cucumber soup, shrimp, tahini, don’t forget the herbs.

I don’t really like sharing this info because I absolutely want to keep all of the stone fruit to myself…….but since it’s my brother’s business I guess I should do my part in letting the world know that it’s time! A round of applause to farmers who take care of you! ITC is extremely fortunate to work with some of the most stellar farms that NOMI has to offer! They go above and beyond to make sure we have the product to bring menus to life…….like tonight when ran a box of rainbow chard out to my kitchen, after hours, to make sure that this weeks wedding is a success.

Thank you Loma for having the heart and the hustle……..so happy I found you at farm market way back in 2014……and even happier that you still pick up your phone when I call with an emergency need!

I’m a Leelanau gal. I have been for 44 years and counting. This is home and always will be. It’s home because of the sense of community I have here. That community started at a young age.

Next week we get to pair with not one but two of my all time favorites. Two organizations/spaces that helped shape me into the person I am today.

The Leelanau Children’s Center and The Old Art building. The first, the space where I first played kitchen, problem solved, learned to share, learned to love, and a flame of creativity was started here. The Old Art Building, the first place I was on stage (ballet and then theatre), the first wedding I went to for a high school friend, the first garden I sat in,after we lost my grandma, in which I found peace, and the first place I bought a piece of local artwork for our home.

I adore both of these organizations and what they bring to our community. I most certainly hope that you value them as much as I do and I hope to see your lovely faces at both of their annual fundraisers next week.

7/13/24!

Congratulations J&J……….you two are just the sweetest and we were so honored to be part of your beautiful celebration at Starry Night Barn!

I so wish that I had gotten some photos of their stunning table design…….but of course time escaped me.

To my team: magic makers………it was brutally hot today and not once did I hear a complaint……..they powered through like magical little unicorns and the smiles never left their faces.

I’m just going to drop an idea into Facebook land. We all have a favorite farmer in Leelanau County……..every single cherry farmer I know is currently battling an incredibly heartbreaking cherry season. Although we can’t fix their fruit, we could sprinkle a little joy. Just an idea my friends, but think of your favorite farmer…….maybe drop some fresh baked cookies at their doorstep, surprise them with a Sammie from the Cheese Shanty, buy them a croissant from 9 Bean Rows, deliver a bouquet of flowers, simply write them a bit of gratitude note for what they do.

What they are going through was comparable to what the pandemic did to my business. I know how many tears I shed, how many walls I punched, how many times I wanted to run away. A few people in my community kept me going…….i would love if we could band together and shed a little light on them during some not so sunny days.❤️🍒

2024 is moving so incredibly fast! Crops are ending sooner than expected and beginning earlier than normal. Although it has thrown some of our menus for a loop, we’re here for it and we’re excited at the plethora of produce that we have been able to work with thus far. This also serves as a gentle reminder to enjoy it while it’s here!

We took a few days off!

I celebrated 44 in unicorn style (thank you ITC team), my sister cooked an amazing tenderloin for a birthday/wedding anniversary dinner, my friend made me laugh out loud multiple times, part of my husband’s family was in town and I got to play tourist, we harvested lavender, we got out on the boat, and I enjoyed time away from the office.

In other news……..biopsy is BENIGN 💕💕💕💕💕💕

We are back at it tomorrow with snack boxes for the concert at Bluestone Vineyard and a sweet little double header this coming week.

An incredible night for the Child & Family Services Under the Moon and Stars Gala! So many lovely vendors donated their time and talents including: @conradieeventdesign @s2s.sugar2salt @bayviewweddings @tonicandlimemi @idyllfarms This is absolutely the beating heart of our beautiful community, so much love last night!

What an incredible way to spend a Friday! We were welcomed into a beautiful vacation rental to help a family shower twin sisters for their 80th birthday celebration! Their one wish was to have their families together……..spanning 5 states and 20 years since they have all been together to share time and space. It was beautiful, heartfelt, and filled with joy……..and we soaked up every single minute with them!

And that’s a wrap on the month of June! Incredible clients, incredible vendor teams, and my team……well, I’m a big fan of them!!!! #wedding season #catering #farmtofork #laboroflove #teammagic

A really quick reflection about June 1, 2024. We worked alongside a completely new to us vendor family at a venue we had never worked at before. I can’t quite put into words just how dreamy yesterday was, even with some rain showers. This vendor team was about cohesive as it can be and it showed in all aspects throughout the day. @elsilueventplanning well done team! Your design was gorgeous, your logistics were on point, your ability to problem solve quickly was appreciated. I most certainly hope our paths will cross again soon. @timelesseventrental teamwork makes the dream work………and the catering rentals you supplied were beyond lovely. Thank you for the great attitudes and the muscle help at the end of night. Lola’s Libations for bar service was incredible. Total team oriented and a true pleasure to work alongside. @simplysweetbyjessica coming in with the most gorgeous cake and chocolate covered strawberries and bringing all of the things needed for all of the things. To my team: thanks for making catering for 252 look easy my friends. I will forever love your attention to detail. Other creatives: @arpontius with the stunning floral @bbjlatavola for linens.

Happy Mother’s Day! ITC is powered by some of the best moms that Leelanau County has. I’m always so amazed by their unconditional love (for our guests and my company), their strength, their optimism, their work ethic…….I’m blessed beyond words to have so many lovely moms be part of my life! I’m also smart enough to know that this day is not easy for some. To our friends far and wide who are on the struggle bus today, I send you love and light from afar.

It has felt good to be back in the kitchen testing out recipes, taking notes, making tweaks……..it’s been a great way to spend time during this spell of weather in which the air hurts my face🥶 and between the choice of cooking or business taxes……well I’ll choose cooking every single time!
