Here are the photos from GNCS #3. (Thank you, Jonathan Watt for grabbing a few of me while I was up on stage!)

We were a small, but mighty group that evening, but still managed to raise a combined total of $90 for our featured nonprofit, The Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. Thank you, everyone, who came out in support of our series and this important cause.

If you'd like to make an additional gift to MCEDSV, you may do so at https://mcedsv.org/

Thank you again to Darcy Wilkin for gracing our stage and for our sponsors, Elderly Instruments, BeneGuides, and Maggie Gerich at Rooted Real Estate of Greater Lansing for all of your support!

Thank you also to Stage One at Sycamore Creek Eastwood for being a wonderful venue, and again to Jonathan Watt for consistently bringing out the best sound in every performer, and everything else you do behind-the-scenes.

Speaking of scenes, if you're curious about the backdrop in these photos, it's the set from Peppermint Creek Theatre Company's most recent production, "What the Constitution Means to Me". While that show is now over, their 2024-2025 Season is not. To learn more about their upcoming shows, check them out at: https://peppermintcreek.org/season/2024-2025-season/

Lastly, we look forward to seeing you again in a couple weeks at GNCS #4: Jen Sygit and Michelle Held in support of NAMI Lansing on Wednesday, December 4th!

Tickets can be purchased at: https://thegoodneighborconcertseries.ticketspice.com/jen-sygit-and-michelle-held

We'll be joined once more by Honey Bun Bakery and Sweet Lee’s Teas - so make sure you let them know how much we missed them! (While a part of me enjoyed flexing my baking muscles, I'll be glad to hand over a couple of my too-many-hats next time!)

Have a wonderful day, and see you again soon!

11/14/2024

Thank you to everyone who attended tonight's show, and to everyone who has made this such a wonderful series! We couldn't do it without you! ❤️

We'll post the info for the next one in the coming days. (Save the Date for December 4th!)

Hello Neighbors,

It feels odd and, frankly, wrong, to be promoting any kind of thing today, in light of today’s sobering election results, which support a future that is contrary to pretty much every goal of our series. It feels tonedeaf to say any version of, “hey, look at this thing I’m/we’re doing!”, or anything like that. Sooo many of us are still processing and will still be processing these results and the version of the United States of America that we found ourselves waking up to this morning for quite some time. Trust me when I say, we are right there with you. It feels like a gut-punch and our hearts being ripped out all at once. It is still very raw, and I don’t think anything is really going to make it “okay” anytime soon.

And yet. The work has not changed. We are still here for a purpose. To do whatever good we can with the time and resources we have, and to shine a light where it needs shining, in the hopes that we can somehow make the world at least a little better than it was when we found it. To provide a safe space for artists and patrons to gather together. To be authentic, show up whenever possible, and be good neighbors to whoever needs it within our sphere of influence. To live with integrity and do the next right thing, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.

It’s okay to take some time to grieve. Just remember that you don’t have to do it alone. And sometimes the best medicine is rolling up your sleeves.

So, on that note, if you are able, please join us for our next event on Wednesday, November 13th (that's next Weds!). And if you can't attend, but would still like to donate toward our efforts, you can do so on the ticketing page as well.

And, FYI, I've extended the deadline a bit for the gift certificate giveaway by a few hours. So, now, if you purchase yours before 8 PM tonight, you're still eligible to win.

Hope to see you there.

No, the location for the event hasn't changed. For some reason, any time we (or anyone) make the slightest change to an event description, it gives this notification in error. I wish FB would fix this.

Here are some photos from our first concert back on September 17th at Stage One at Sycamore Creek Eastwood. It was a rare and emotionally powerful night full of wonderful original music from Kayleigh Slone and Lyn Sawicki.

Our wonderful sound engineer, Jonathan Watt, kept everything running smoothly and made sure everyone sounded their best.

Delicious concessions were provided by Honey Bun Bakery and Sweet Lee’s Teas (sorry I didn't get a photo of you, Sweet Lee’s Teas - I'll be sure to next time).

Altogether, we raised a total of $147.50 for AFSP Michigan Chapter. Not too bad for our first event! Thank you, again, for all who participated!

Now, let's do it again, with new artists and a new cause, on October 16th! GNCS #2: Tamiko Rothhorn and Sari Brown in support of the Refugee Development Center (RDC) is coming up in just over two weeks. (Can you believe it's almost October?!)
