Be careful what you plant and where you plant it at on your property. If you buy a piece of property be aware of what is planted near the septic system. Tree roots go to water, especially Maple trees.

This is an example of why you should have your septic system inspected and maintained. This is a picture of a tank we recently serviced but the tree roots invaded the tank. Most likely the field lines are also damaged from roots. Call us today and let us come out and pump your tank. This is great information that also applies to septic systems.

While hot grease is a liquid and easily goes down the drain, once it cools in your pipes or in the sewer system it solidifies and causes clogs and blockages that lead to issues in your home's system as well as LUS infrastructure.

DO NOT PUT THESE ITEMS DOWN YOUR DRAIN:

- Cooking Oil
- Grease
- Pan Drippings
- Gravy
- Lard/Shortenings/Butter
- Salad Dressings
- Creams/Sauces

To dispose of these, you can recycle/reuse certain types of grease, but for large amounts, you can mix with cat litter and put in a sealed bag in your trash.

By not putting these things down the drain, not only are you protecting the LUS Sewer System, but also your home's!

Whether you’re a real estate agent or a home buyer, when purchasing an existing property, be sure to get the septic tank inspected before you close the deal. It could save you thousands of dollars or cost you thousands of dollars down the road. Remember, there was a time when there were no restrictions on septic system installation. It’s one of those things that a lot of people don’t think about because it’s out of sight, out of mind but it is important to know. Here is an example of a tank that we recently serviced. This tank hadn’t been pumped in a long time and will likely have to have new field lines installed. Most of the time in this situation everything backs up inside and the homeowner can’t use the bathroom, shower, wash clothes, dishes etc. Remember, your tank should be pumped every 5 years or so.
