June is here! 🗓️🥳 I want to start off by saying thank you to each and every one of you! I appreciate the love and support as we grow! 🤍

I would like to reintroduce myself and tell you a little about my family and how JMC Designs & Events became a reality for me. My name is Laterika Tooks. I’m a creative lefty who loves to DIY, write, garden, and the list could literally go on. I love being outdoors and being one with nature. I’m engaged and we have three fur babies: Bentley (our first, we’ve had him since a baby), Bella (Rescued in 2020), and Chloe (Rescued in March, found out she was pregnant April and had puppies in May). As you can imagine, it’s been a little chaotic, but it’s been a fun experience.

Jumping into my business, I have always enjoyed the logistics of planning events. I have had the opportunity to work with many clients over the years, helping them turn their vision into a reality and I look forward to continuing to perfect my craft. JMC stands for Jettie Mae Charles, my grandma who I lost in July 2020. I wanted to be able to incorporate her into my business in some way and I can’t wait to see the places we will go!

Deciding on a color scheme for your wedding can be a little intimidating. Below are a few tips to think about when choosing what colors you want on your special day:

1) Get inspired by your setting. Choosing colors that complement your venue will enhance what you love most about the space.

2) Keep your wedding must-haves in mind. Use your must-haves as a starting point, rather than trying to figure out how to incorporate them into your wedding later on.

3) Think seasonally. Your wedding colors can reflect the time of year that you're saying "I do."

4) Set the mood. Your wedding colors have a huge impact on the vibe for your special day. If you're going for a fun, lively atmosphere, you'll naturally want to include eye-catching colors, like bright pink, turquoise, red, or yellow. Leaning toward something timeless and understated? Basic tones like navy blue, black, ivory and metallic silver or gold will look lovely.
