Special thanks to my team for indulging me Wednesday night when there was a piano just waiting to be played at the Pied Piper bar. I think I would have chickened out if Steven hadn’t asked the waiter on my behalf. Piano is something that has given me joy for over 30 years but it’s rare that people ask me to play anymore. I think part of it is that a perfect storm of opportunity needs to present itself in public, but the other part is that the people who used to routinely ask (my mom, my grandma) are no long here. It’s a sobering reality of how life changes and one I didn’t realize until much more recently. The lesson I’m learning is that I need to no longer wait to be asked. I need to just get up and play. Wednesday I played for my team, but I played more for myself. I need to model that confidence for my girls so that someday when I’m not here to ask them, they’ll still be playing too.l
Every now and then you’re lucky enough to have a bride record her very own testimonial video about her recent experience. So pleased to be able to share this. Dalya you are a true gem for taking the time to put all your thoughts in video form. Thank you!

What’s the process for creating someone an instrumental cover? I play by ear. So a lot of it is making sure I know how the song sounds in my head. I listen to the song on repeat while driving etc. Once I know the song in my head, then it’s about finding the right sound out loud. How is it supposed to feel? Which parts am I emphasizing? I’ll mess around on the piano understanding the chord progressions and the melody. Eventually, I’ll involve the better microphone, wait for the house to be empty, and hit record. We’re probably a few weeks away from that. Can you tell what song this is? #weddingmusic #instrumentalcovers #processional #firstdance #pianocovers
