¿Sabías que la celebración del cinco de mayo es un movimiento Chicano?
Estados Unidos lo adoptó como uno de sus símbolos contra la opresión y se volvió una bandera de lucha para los Mexicanos, latinos y migrantes que padecían por el simple hecho de ser minoría.

El 05 de mayo de 1862 el ejército mexicano y el francés sostuvieron un enfrentamiento armado, conocido como La Batalla de Puebla.

El cinco de mayo de 1867, cinco años después de esta batalla, un grupo de mexicanos celebraron la victoria, en Texas.
A partir de ahí esta fecha se volvió popular en USA.

En 1930 el Consulado Mexicano en Los Ángeles realizó una celebración de esta fecha, lo cual le dio carácter oficial.

Desde entonces, el Cinco de Mayo se volvió una fiesta oficial cultural, para celebrar tanto a los mexicanos como a los latinos en Estados Unidos.
