NEEDLESS BATTLES

“And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the LORD, even over Israel.” (2 Kings 9: 6)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the son of the prophet poured oil on Jehu and anointed him as King of Israel. In bible times, there were times when Kings went to battle. There were also battles where kings were not needed. Notice that military commanders needed to fight battles more frequently. So, the moment Jehu was anointed as king, it was an anointing that reduced his battles. It was an anointing that excluded him from some battles.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: by the anointing of your new season, needless battles are excluded from your life. You won’t need to fight every battle. Needless battles in your life have ended. You won’t battle endlessly to break out of your current level. You won’t suffer repeated battles in the same areas. You won’t fight the same issues that came against you in the past. You won’t suffer the same afflictions of yesterday.

Powers that reenact old battles are excluded from your life. Powers that say you will fight again and again, I decree, they will not prevail over you. Powers that create new battles again and again in your life, I decree, they will not prevail. You will not fight again. You will not be caught in battles that your new season does not need. You will not be caught in battels that will diminish the mighty works of El Roi in your life.

It is instructive to note that kings in Israel didn’t fight every battle. As you navigate through 2025, glean the wisdom of not fighting every battle. There are battles you should leave for others to fight. There are battles that don’t need your participation. As you rise, note that you are not needed in every battle field. Before you join in any battle, ask yourself if indeed it aligns with your calling and destiny mandate. Don’t be distracted by needless battles.

Welcome to that season where your needless battles have come to an end. Welcome to that season where you must be intentional to choose your battles.

Psalm 46: 9 says: “He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.”
