We hired her and my boss forgot to cut her check. You know they made me, low man on the totem pole, tell her. It wasn’t pretty. I know that this will be like a foreign language to some folks, but if you make a mistake at an event—#admit it. This has more to do with having a moral compass than anything else, but we’re all fallible. Sometimes you take direction not in the way people intended and mistakes are made. Don’t play the blame game. Here’s a tip! 💡 Many people hire entertainment, but don’t budget for them to have meals. #WRONG! If you want a great event, you have got to entertain and keep the #entertainment happy. Make sure that you #reserve food for them—even if they have to eat it in a breakout room. Here’s a tip!! 💡 Since our event world has opened up to hybrid events, many event #producers have to learn what it is like to be a #television producer. You have to look at the lighting, backgrounds, distractions (i.e. I was producing a virtual event and someone’s #dog kept running in and out of the frame)🐶. I find that it’s #helpful to send people some basic information on virtual events—like where/how to position themselves in front of the camera, how to find a space that is #uncluttered, and to check their volume. You can suggest a #protip and purchase a ring light so that the lighting will be flattering—there’s nothing worse than recording someone who is in the dark! I even found it distracting watching the #Oscars without a host. Conversely, I think that the MC should not make themselves the #center of attention—it is about the goal of the show.
